Article: We Like it BIG!

When Amitabh Bachchan, aka 'Big B', makes a special appearance for any function, it has got to be big…and BIG it was! The glitterati of the Indian television industry were present in high numbers at the First BIG Television Awards which took place at the Yash Raj studios, Andheri. The awards function, organised to celebrate not only the on-screen characters, but even the emotions these characters generate in the hearts of the audiences, was a major success. The glamour quotient was upped by several notches with the attendance of Amitabh Bachchan along with several other biggies of the television industry like Shekhar Suman, Ayub Khan, Mini Mathur, VJ Ranvijay and Raghu Ram. 'Lady Amitabh Bachchan' of small screen, Kavita Kaushik was in her elements showing off her sensuous backless white top for the cameras. The bubbly Ragini Khanna was her usual self, smiling from ear to ear. However it was the sultry Sophia Hyatt who caused a rage by planting, quite unexpectedly, an impromptu kiss on the cheek of one of the photographers.

Inside, Hosts Manish Paul and Karan among others kept the funny bone tickling and took digs at each other as well as at many famous on-screen and off screen characters. The crowds were going gung ho which each spectacular dance performance on stage. Among those who got awarded for their emotiveness among the audiences was the on screen character of Thakur Sajjan Singh from 'Pratigya', lauded for being the 'Most Teekha Character' on television. The award for the 'Most Rangeela Character' went to funny man Jethalal Gada from 'Tarak Mehta ka Ultah Chasha' whereas the most 'Most Ladala Parivar' was a tie between the 'Tarak Mehta.." family and the 'Sasural Genda Phool' team.
