I was watching DDLJ the other day and I just could not help but admire Kajol's role in that movie. It was so well narrated and different from the other roles we always see in bollywood. Simran is not bubbly or talkative nor a super woman like Madhuri in HAHK, who happens to know to cook, sing and dance. she is just a simple girl who falls in love and at the same time fearful of her dad. I could totally relate to her role in that movie. I would say one of the best written roles in bollywood.
Another well written role I would say is Rajesh Khanna in Anand. When you watch that movie you totally fall in love with Rajesh Khanna, his zest for life and the feel like you have known him for years.
There are many more roles I can think of...and I believe well written roles makes a good movie. what is your opinion and which role you think was well written and narrated in bollywood? 😊

He makes your adreanaline rise up in an action, he makes you feel warm with Yeh Dosti...
Thats what makes a complete actor and ALL IN ONE SCRIPT !

Well said josharora👏 ..Amitabh's role in Abhimaan also was breathtaking as the jealous husband..although Amitabh was at the wrong I just could not help feeling sorry for him! Another role I love was Sanjay dutt in Vaastav, very well depicted how Sanjay from an innocent guy turns into a criminal!!

Nice topic...

In recent times, Udaan had well wriiten characters... We could feel Rohan's anguish...his pain...his confusion...the tumult...
Dhobhi Ghat... Very well written... My favorites were Arun and Yasmin's characters... Again very poignant...
Do Dooni Char... All four characters... Mom, Dad and the two kids... Very closer to life...very real... Everything right from their portrayal to their squabbles...
DevD was very good... All three roles were well written...

I LOVED Yasmin's character! She was so innocent. I loved the way she was able to show you her world with her perspective.
Another movie with a well written character was Manisha's character in the movie Khamoshi...The songs are so amazing in that movie too. I remember the way she sings Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai... and her parents support her throughout. And she never fails them.

These 3 have always stuck with me:
I loved Manisha Koirala's role in Dil Se. She played a female terrorist who was plagued by her past and remained a mixture of cold and quiet through the whole movie. Even when her and Shah Rukh began falling in love she played it off like she loathed having to fall in love with him. I loved her character.
I also loved Kalki's role as "Chandramuki/Chanda" in Dev.D. Playing the girl who became a prostitute because of an MMS scandal was such a clever side plot, all the ways in which the modern chanda related to the traditional chandramuki was also shown subtley. A great role to write and play as well.
Shahid kapoor in Kaminey, as the twins. Both were fleshed out characters with their own flaws, and starkly different. I think he did such a good job of playing both.

Do Dooni Char has such well written characters. Each member of the duggal family is a reflection of middle class family members.

Sid's character in wake up sid is a perfect depiction of the young generation. I can totally relate my brother to him.

Kareena's geet is such a well written role. Her zest for love and love is quite admirable.

I also like Katrina Kaif's role in Namastey London...It was pretty different from the other roles female leads usually did in Indian cinema...From the beginning of the movie Katrina is shown as a spoilt rich girl bought up in London with no values...Katrina potrayed the role very well and it has to be one of her meatiest roles ever!!
