Kishore Kumar is my idol: Shehzad Roy
Mumbai, Apr 30: Shehzad Roy, Pakistani pop singer who advocates guitar as the love of his life and considers it as the singing legend major driving force that prompted him to enter this profession, says Kishore Kumar is his idol.
Shehzad Roy who here to promote his latest album 'Salli' told mediapersons that he grew up listening to classical performers like Abida Parveen and Reshma. ''Among the Indians, I am a great fan of Kishore Kumar. I like his songs very much,'' he said.
About the cultural exchange the singer said, young people in Pakistan are crazy about Bollywood and its stars.
Shehzad opines the authenticity of a song's message lies in its lyrics.
'Salli', which young Shehzad claims to be his best of songs was released in February for the Indian market.
Shehzad made his debut in 1994 with his hit single 'Nazrain jo milthin ik bar sanam say' which was followed by his own album 'Zindagi' in 1995 featuring hits 'Dholna' and 'Bewafa', which set a blockbuster record by selling more than 6,00,000 lakh copies was followed by 'Darshan' in 1997, 'Soorat' in 1999 and 'Rab Janey' in 2002.
'Salli' which is a huge hit in Pakistan has various tracks that are peppy numbers, which scores high among the masses these days.
Shehzad describes himself as a musician who has a knack for experimentation. According to him, ''we grow from experience. My music is constantly changing and evolving. My first album was completely different from my last album. I just follow my own taste in music.''
Shehzad says he tries to convey meaningful messages through his light-hearted yet earthy tunes. The very first track of the album is pitched at spreading the message of love and peace.
