Akshara's Column: The importance of a child in a woman's life

Hi everyone! I am hoping you all had a good time last week. I am trying to enjoy life by taking care of everyone in the house, but few things have really disturbed me a lot in the past week.

I am still trying to forget that nightmare of my life but somehow or the other, it keeps coming back to haunt me. Just few days ago, when everything seemed normal, I got caught up in Bindya's tale about a woman she knows who had a miscarriage and wasn't able to conceive for five years. I felt so lost as I felt Gayatri ma and Bhabhi's eyes on me, I felt judged by them, although they didn't utter a word. I wanted to talk to Naitik desperately and be comforted by him. Instead he got friends home and said it was a surprise for me, to cheer me up. Instead of feeling better, I felt worse as I was robbed of precious moments with Naitik.

In this anger, I lashed out at him and made a huge blunder. I accused Naitik of never wanting the child we lost. Though I poured my heart, my anguish out, I still felt miserable. Naitik explained that he felt equally hurt and disappointed about losing our child but kept a brave face for my sake. I felt very guilty for my lashing. I know I can't take those bitter words back and I am feeling very bad for everything. I have no idea how will I get Naitik to forgive me and patch up with him.

I can't stop thinking about my baby and the importance of a child in a woman's life. A baby changes a woman forever, changes her very essence, her home, her life. Being a woman, and having lost a baby, I feel certain emptiness in my life. I keep wondering if I will ever conceive again? Will it be a successful pregnancy?

From the present, I have realized that it is very important for a woman to have a child and here's why.

1. Like they say, the birthing of a child is a re-birth of a woman.

2. A child gives a woman a chance to be a mother and make her realize the wonders of motherhood. It is in a woman's nature to be nurturing and caring and have children.

3. The innocence of a child creates harmony, happiness and bonding in the family, which unites family together forever.

4. Being a mother is a great virtue which helps women to understand the depth of love and be loved.

5. A baby in the family brings not only joy but responsibility too. It ushers in new beginnings for the family.

6. A child brings the mother and father closer than ever, tying them in an unbreakable bond. The baby thus strengthens relationships.

7. The joy of motherhood gives every woman a reason to smile in all adversities.
