I've been a silent reader of this forum for so long. Absolutely love the analysis, discussions and the updates by the wonderful members here. I started watching this serial serial only after the entry of Neil Bhatt. Since then, I'm just hooked onto it and have always regretted for not watching it from the beginning.

Well...I have some points to make or rather some question to get clarified. Did Kesar know or ever understand why Gulaal married him? Does he know that Raman & co. planned to usurp his property and Gulaal married him to protect him from them? If he knows it then his siding with Raman is absolutely pointless. Secondly, has kesar ever tried to understand why Gulaal chose to marry him over Dushyant? Kesar's anger over being kept away from the secret of his brother's murder is justifiable. His anger over Gulaal for being on good terms with his brother's murderer is acceptable. But his suspicion on Gulaal's chastity is pointless. I read in an article that after the elections Durgesh & co. would spread malicious rumours about Gulaal- Dushyant relationship and Kesar would be so angry. If there had been something between Gulaal and Dushyant, then why would she choose to marry a 10 year old kid over Dushyant? I would appreciate if the creatives show Kesar dwelling on this question. Just don't want the tension around this track to be dragged so long beyond logic.

I find this serial to be of K. Balachander's type. The legendary director who introduced, moulded and mentored stalwarts like Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Prakash Raj, Sri Devi and so on... is known for his bold concepts, powerful storylines, use of symbolism, well-scripted characters and wonderful representation of complex relationships and forbidden love. Would love to see this serial in Tamil either in dubbed version or in remade form by K. Balachander sir. Am just intrigued to know how would Balachander sir deal with and solve the tangles and controversies in the story. But if it is remade then I want the same Neil and Mansi to be roped in to play the leads. They are absolutely brilliant! Mind blowing! Infact the entire cast & crew is awesome! Hats off to the creatives and the artists! And this serial will perfectly fit the type of programmes that star Vijay is known for. The dubbed versions of Behenein and Yeh Rishta... on Vijay Tv don't fit the brand of programmes that Vijay TV is known for and nobody watches them. A flawed choice by the channel!

Lastly...I made some VM's in an attempt to put together Kesar's plethora of emotions and feelings for Gulaal. The first one is on a beautiful instrumental piece and the second one is on a beautiful Tamil melody of medieval times in Ilayaraja - S.P.B combo. I assure that they are worth watching! Am not that good in Hindi so find it difficult to make VM's on Hindi songs.

Hey I saw the Vm's very beautiful...though I do not understand the lyrics.

Now coming to the character of kesar...He has always been shown as a brat...a person who always wants to have his own way ...being pampered a lot being the youngest in the family...also naughty yet adorable...as a child he had this sweet obsession about gulaal...for him it was always his gulaal, his whole world centered around gulaal...whether homework...getting ready...even her marriage with vasant could not change his rights over his gulaal...so instead of looking for deeper questions all he thinks about gulaal...Also its imp to understand that he basically dosen't wanna understand anything else...So the only memory he has retained is that of gulaal and his bond and her betrayal...Another factor which can be taken into account is that he is acting his age...Like if you are 20-22 and are obssesed wid sum1 you only think about her...so instead of looking for deeper answers all he worries is about his separation from gulaal...thinking only about why she dosen't listen to him...If you see older episodes gulaal's life too revolved around kesar and she used to be always there for him...but now she dosen't coz she knows that he is a grown up and can take care of himself...so instead of thinking about anything else all he does is thinks about gulaal

Thanks a lot for watching the VM's and the reponse, Manzilmukul. You have rightly described Kesar's character and the reason why he doesn't see things in a broader sense. For 10 long years Kesar has fought with his urge to hate her for her supposed betrayal but failed miserably because somewhere in his heart he has always known that his Gulaal is absolutely spotless and that's why we got to see all those wonderful Kesar-Gulaal moments. I personally don't want to see him to be back to square one trying to hate her or suspecting her purity instead want him to see things in a broader sense so that Gulaal continues to remain an adorable woman for him that she has always used to be.

Did Kesar know or ever understand why Gulaal married him?no but he has no issue with it Does he know that Raman & co. planned to usurp his property and Gulaal married him to protect him from them? again he was child so unaware about the whole event If he knows it then his siding with Raman is absolutely pointless. Secondly, has kesar ever tried to understand why Gulaal chose to marry him over Dushyant? well kesar knew he is brother in law and more close to gulaal vasantbha had said him to take care after gulaal wen he is not there and he promised he will ...for him husband wife live and care for each other throughout life so kesar is more eligible suitor than dushy as dushy and gulaal are not friends Kesar's anger over being kept away from the secret of his brother's murder is justifiable. His anger over Gulaal for being on good terms with his brother's murderer is acceptable. But his suspicion on Gulaal's chastity is pointless. I read in an article that after the elections Durgesh & co. would spread malicious rumours about Gulaal- Dushyant relationship and Kesar would be so angry. its jealously arose out of deep love its not that he is suspicious its just the anger y anyone else is prior to him even talli is not allowed to come before him...for him gulaal should only be his and noone should interfere in between If there had been something between Gulaal and Dushyant, then why would she choose to marry a 10 year old kid over Dushyant? I would appreciate if the creatives show Kesar dwelling on this question. Just don't want the tension around this track to be dragged so long beyond logic. he knows that gulaal loved vasnt more than anyone else in life like he does so he cant understand y she was silent and y she favours infact noone understood y

Hi GGG3,
Unfortuantely the kinds of legendary K Balchander are no more venturing into making films that often. And moreover its a hard chance that the likes of him would peek into regular soaps on Hindi channels and be on talent hunt.
The kinds of K Balchander are rare, the kinds of films he has made so far are rare in its own kind and the kinds of Neil Bhatt is surprisingly and sadly in the midst of a wrong set of TRP conscious channels.
Neil is a natural actor in his own way and has so far been brilliant in his performance. At such a young age where most actors would look for college-hero mass appeal kind of roles, he is chosing such complex roles to explore himself as a performer. Imagine under such legendary guidance of such stalwarts, what waves he could create.
Still, he is doing a good job. Same goes for the story. As mentioned, a niche audience appreciates such stories that are unique. The majority of audience(that amount to TRPs), go for college romance, latest fashion trends in the show, etc, etc.
We have to accept the fact that such unique concepts do not hold the TRP population's interest. So even if the show is for a short time too, enjoy the brilliance in acting, the story concept and the captivating cinematography. Enjoy as much as you can. Lets be satisfied with the quality of a show and the acting by the team.

Wow! Well said!👏

OMG! He would surely create waves.

Could not have said better!👏 Completely agree with you!

I'm not for any serial to be dragged beyond one year. It has not been one year since Gulaal was started. It truly deserves to be on air till it comes to a graceful smooth end with all the tangles getting untied in a natural pace. The channels have to look beyond TRP's and should cater to niche audience also. Hope star plus rethinks its decision to axe Gulaal.

Thanks a lot for the wonderful response, MeySimi😊

Hi GGG3,

Lovely VM's and thanks for creating them and sharing with us.
Beautiful Tamil song that so correlated with the scenes... Awesome.
As you and Meysimi has already mentioned, I too would say that K. Balachander sir has breathed his life into Tamil film as well as in television industry. He is a legend of all times. Neil in the hands of K. Balachander sir would do wonders... no doubt ! Its not that now he doesn't, he does give us marvellous performances in every episodes that makes me enjoy the show Gulaal.
Ohhh.. Ya... brilliant idea of remaking the same show in Tamil with the same lead pair. Wouldn't that be amazing ??? WOW... I would love to watch it !
