Scene4: Arjun-Rajveer Tashan

Rajveer and Arvind go to commissioner and ask him why they allowed Arohi inside to meet Arjun. Other than lawyer that too with permission of commissioner no one should meet him in police custody.

Both are informed Arjun did not agree to sign on confession statement. Arvind and Rajveer leave to meet Arjun and make him sign confession.

Arjun is brooding on all the events that took place in his life. Billu giving him a call to come to his house. Arjun reading the file and discovering the owner of that house is his mother and was killed by Kartar Singh because he considered her as terrorist.

Arjun thinks loudly: Ma, mujhe pata hai aap terrorist nahi thi. Aap ko juthe case main pasaakar terrorist kehkar bahut behreemi se mara gaya hai. Main wada kartha hun ma, main aapko nyay dilwahunga. Main sabit karunga duniya ke samne aur court ke samne ki aap nirdosh thi, aap ko bina sahi jhanch kiye maara gaya tha, mujhse cheen liya gaya tha. Kartar Singh, Sudhir Ahluwaliah aur jo bhi aapke khoon aur fasaane ke saazish main shamil hain jhan buch kar ya bina jane main uska pata lagakar aapko insaaf dilaunga.

Arjun is called out to the interrogation room.

Rajveer and Arvind already there in the interrogation room.

Arjun enters the room and sees them both and shows anger on his face looking at them.

Rajveer and Arvind tell him to sign the confession statement and Arjun refuses (because they have put wrong details)

Rajveer: Tumhare balaee isime hain ke tum chup chap yeh confession statement sign karlo warna

Arjun: Warna kya, mujhe bhi meri maa ki tara maar daloge

Arvind: Tumari maa ek terrorist thi aur saare sabut unke kilaaf the. Dad sirf apni duty kar rahe the

Arjun: Meri maa nirdosh thi. Meri dil sabse bada saboot hai aur main jantha hun ki woh nirdosh thi. Aur tumlogo ne use mujhse bahut behreemi se cheen liya.

Rajveer gets wild: Tumhare ye emotional speech suna nahi aye hain hum. Chup chap confession statement par sign karthe ho ya phir

Arjun: Nahi karunga, Jo chahiye karlo

Rajveer goes to hit him and Arjun catches his hand and inspector and constables rush to hit him.

Arvind: Tehero and all stop in their tracks

Arvind: Rajveer use chod do.

Arjun leaves his hand

Arvind: Tumlog saab bahar jaho. Mujhe aur Rajveer ko baat karni hai isse akele main

All other inspector and constables leave and stad gaurd outside

Arvind: Tumhe shukar mana chachiye ke humare dad DIG ko marne ke baad bhi hum tumse sakthi se pesh nahi aa rahe hain. Chandigarh main koi bhi vaqil tumhara case nahi ladne wala. Aur kisine himmat karke ladne ki koshish ki bhi to haar jayega.

Rajveer: Aur main abhi suna saktha hun tumhari saza kya hogi court main- Sazaye maut- To be hanged till death. Aur us maut se pehle kuch saal tum isi jail main sadne ke liye tayar ho jaho. Aur main wada kartha hun ke sazaye maut se pehle tum jho ek ek din is jail main katoge woh sazaye maut se bathar hogi. Paani main rekhar magar mach se bair rakhna bewaqoofi hai

Arjun: Aur kuch kehna hai... Mera jawab ab bhi na hai

Rajveer gets really wild

Rajveer going near to him: Suno Arjun, tum chakravyuh main paas chuke ho aisa chakravuyh jahan se nikalna na mumkin hai. Behtar hoga tum confession statement sign karo...abhi

Arjun: Mahabharat nahi pada hai kya Rajveer, Chakravyuh main Abhimanyu pastha hai, Arjun nahi. Arjun ko chakravuyh bedna bahut acche se aata hai

Rajveer: Bahut hogaya, yaad rako yeh jail hai. Yahan wohi hota hai jho hum chahathe hain

Arjun: Tumne shayad ek angrezi kahawat nahi suni hai "GOD Proposes, Man disposes" Hoga wahi jo bhagwaan chayenge. Tume jo chaiye karo. Aise geedhad dhamkiyon se me dartha nahi hun. Kya karoge- jyada se jyada torture karoge. Main tayar hun-Tum police wale thak ke haar maanloge magar main haar nahi manunga. Yeh mera waada hai tumse.

Rajveer: Geedhad dhamki, geedhad dhamki kya hai main tumhe dikahunga nd removes his gun

Arvind stops him and calls the police who are standing outside.

They ask two constables to leave him back in his cell.

Rajveer: Bhaiya, yeh aisa nahi manne wala. Isse dusre tareeqe se todna padega

They speak to inspector and tell him not to give food and water and to keep him in isloation for two days so that during next interrogation he will be mentally broken and they can force him to sign the statement.

Rajveer and Arvind go out.

Arvind: Rajveer, kya tume lagtha he ki ise kuch hoga

Rajveer says "Pata nahi, woh toda jyada ziddi hai. Magar fiqaar mat kijiye, aise kitne ziddi logon ko humne apne police ka career main tuthe hue nahi dekha?. Agar isse bhi nahi tuta toh woh kagaaz istimal kargene"

Scene 5 Arjun resolve

Arjun is kept in isolation and not given food and water for 2 days. He asks why he has been shifted from his cell and constable says "Its order from higher authorities to not allow you to mingle or speak with any other jailed prisoner". The new cell is dark and has only a small opening. There are no rods to the cell and its a metal door which when closed plunges the cell to darkness except for a faint light from the small opening. At night the cell is so dark you cannot make out anything here.

Initially Arjun does not realize why he was shifted here but as the day progress and and its evening and he is not given food or water also he realizes that this must be the new tactic of Ahluwaliah's. Arjun decides not to allow himself to crumble in that situation and starts thinking of all the things he has to do once he is outside prision.

In university he had read novel on World War 2 prisioners of war under Nazis. The torture and isolation they faced was so unbearable that many gave up and died or signed on false propoganda materials. But some had devised ways to not crumble for that torture and kept their spirits up by thinking of what they will do once they go out from the POW camps. Arjun decides he will also make a mental list of what all he plans to do once he is out of jail and released from these false charges.

He makes a list on priority basis

1) Move to his own house- after what happened there was no way he would like to stay with Ahluwaliah's not anymore

2) Find what happened to his mom, who was responsible for destroying his family. He decided he can find more details from Kartar, Sudhir, RPS and jail records of those times. He hopes Kartar will survive the attack. He also decided his mother's killers will be punished and lawfully. Why has RPS not come to meet him- may be Rajveer did not allow him to meet Arjun in jail?

3) Set up his own business

4) Try and help other orphans like him in need and set up an orphanage in his moms name.

5) Find who is real father is? Does his father know about Arjun? How to search for his father? What will he tell/do when he meets his father first time? Will his father be happy to see him or indifferent?

He starts imagining how he will prepare himself for his first meeting with his real dad. He speaks to himself his thoughts aloud.

"Aaj tak joh bhi parivaar ke roop main mila woh mera apne hokar bhi mere nahi ban paye. Pehli baar me jab apne pitaji se milunga to pata nahi main kuch keh pahunga ya nahi. Shayad unke samne aate hi main unse kuch keh na pahun. Main unse kya kahunag- papa main aapka beta hun? Nahi- main unhe dekthe hi itna kush ho jaunga ki main unhe pehele gahle se lagaunga. Kushi ke mare main apne ansoon nahi rok paunga- haan haan main jantha hun main hamesha ketha hun mere jaise insaan rote nahi hai magar us din ke liye woh rule main yaad bhi nahi karunga.

Aakhir peheli baar main apne papa se milunga ? mere apne parivaar se milunga. Magar kya papa mujhe apnayege akhir main ek criminal hun. Nahi- mujhe aise negative nahi sochna hai. Jab tak main papa ke samne jahunga pehli baar main is society ka achha nagarik ban jaunga. Papa ko meri waja se koi sharmindagi nahi mehesus honi jahiye. Pata nahi papa kyun meri maa se shaadi nahi kar paye kya majbhoori hogi ya jhan buchkar- shayad majbhoori hogi. Mera dil kehta hai mere papa bahut acche insaan honge. Isiliye to meri maa ne unse pyar kiya hoga. Kya papa janthe hain ke unka ek beta hai, agar haan to kya unhone mujhe dhundne ki koshish ki hogi? Jab papa milenge to yeh sab batein saaf hojayengi.

Kya papa ne shaadi ki hogi- shayad to meri maa aur bhai behen bhi honge mere parivaar main. Kya woh mujhe apnayenge. Ya phir kumud mom aur mikhael bhaiya ke tara tukrayenge aur nafrat karenge. Bhagwan yeh kya stupid sa soch raha hun main. Woh mera apna parivaar hai, zaroor apnayenge.

Agar mere bhai-behen honge toh unka bahut acche se kayal rakhunga Romit aur Rashi ki tarah, bahut pyaar karunga aur unki har kushi puri karunga. 25 years se main unhe dhoond raha hun, pauses and says bahut saal dhur raha hun, ab jab unse milunga toh joh bhi maine sochha tah ke agar mere apne bhai behen honge toh main aise karunga waise karunga woh saab icchayen puri karunga.

Aur meri chotti maa- chotti maa pauses and says nahi main unhe maa bulaunga. Maa ka pyaar mujhe kabhi nahi mila- kya mom mujhe apnayengi- zaroor apnayengi main unhe bahut kush rakhunga koi shikayat ka mauka nahi dunga. Kya woh mehsus karpayengi ki maine ek ma ke pyar ke liye kitna inteezar kiya hai, kitna tarsa hai. Woh zaroor samjhengi- zaroor samjhengi"

He keeps thinking all this and its already morning. The sun rays penetrate through the cell and Arjun comes out of his thoughts. He waits for someone to come and get him out of this dark dungeon cell. No one comes for a long time. He can hear the police footsteps but no one opens the door. He thinks anytime they will come and take him for interrogation. May be then he can see the sunlight and will be given food and water. He waits and waits in anticipation. That interrogation room is better than this dungeon cell. This isolation toture is worst than the real physical torture he underwent.

Arjun sees that the sunrays coming in his cell have become more intense. He thinks its 11 o'clock or 12 o'clock. Why is no one coming to get him out? Or has he miscalculated the time. He waits and waits hearing the footsteps going up and down his cell. Slowly the footsteps outside his cell start reducing. The sun rays also start fading. Then he realizes he may not be taken out for interrogation that day as he feels its already 4-5pm. He realizes this was Ahluwaliah's idea of breaking him by keeping him in isolation without food and water. He thought this was only for yesterday but even today. How many days are they planning to continue with this isolation.

He thinks

" Rajveer aur Arvind Ahluwaliah bhi na kitne bewakoof hain. Mujhe aise isolation main rakh kar bhuka pyasa rakh kar thodne ki koshish main lage hain. Unhe kya pata nahi ki main orphanage main aise kahin din katein hai bhuke pyase aur jab tak Arohi nahi mili tab tak main akela hi raha hun. Actually ab bhi akela hi hun jab tak meri asli parivaar nahi mil jatha yeh akela pan jane wala nahi hain. Haan Arohi ke aane se meri adhuri zindagi main ujala huwa hai magar adhura pan ab bhi hain. Rajveer tumhe pata nahi meri maa ke baare main jankar meri adhure zindagi ko ek maksad diya hai tumlogo ne. Aur duniya ki koi taqat na yeh salakeien, na yeh isolation cell, na bhook na pyaas na koi physical torture ab mujhe is maksad main kamyaab hone se rok saktha hai".

Its night and Arjun falls asleep thinking of Arohi and all his dreams he has for his future. Its morning and Arjun is feeling thirsty as its two days since he has had water and it's really hot in summer in Chandigarh and the mosquitos are literally killing him with constant buzzing and stinging.

Eraly morning a bird comes and sits on his prision cell opening. Arjun has never been so happy to see a bird in his entire life. He says

"Do din isolation main rehkar abh mujhe ya panchi bhi apne parivaar ki tarah mehsus hota hai. Yaar achha hua tu savere savere aya hai. Main toda depress ho raha tha akele akele magar tujhe dekkar meri himmat phirse laut ayi hai"

The bird after sometime comes into his cell through opening and starts pecking in one corner where there are some insects.

"Tujhe bhook lagi hogi ? sach kahun mujhe bhi todi todi lagi hai pyaas jyada lagi hai, magar mere paas khaana paani kuch bhi nahi hai tujhe khilane ke liye. Ab mujhe pata chala mera chotta bhai Romit hamesha pet lane ki baat kyun kartha rehta hai. Is baar uske janam din pe shayad main usse ek pet dunga tohfe main. Bahut kush hojayega"

The bird flies and sits on the opening and then flies off. Arjun wonders if the bird will come again next day.
