The Bombay High Court has granted the bail to the Bollywood Star, Shiney Ahuja, who was sentenced to seven years of jail, on Wednesday. Ahuja was convicted for a rape case on March 30. The complaint was lodged by his maid in June 2009 and he was arrested on June 14.
However, the complaint was withdrawn by her in September as she was asked to complaint by another woman, who helped her in getting the job at Shiney's place.
According to the Press Trust of India, news agency asserted, "Evidence given by doctors, who examined (Ahuja) and the victim stated that there are no injuries on the girl's body. Even the semen and blood samples were negative of (Ahuja)'s DNA".
Justice A. R. Joshi asked him to pay a bond of Rs 50,000, which is equivalent to US$1,100 and also not to go out of the country without the prior approval. He also has to be present if any of the investigating agencies require him.
Ahuja had denied the offence, while the DNA results, medical evidences and scratch marks proved his offence. Ahuja justified himself and said that his maid has given a false statement against him. He said that he has been incorrectly caught up in the rape case.
Shiney's lawyer, Senior Counsel, Shirish Gupte said that his client was convicted for no offence.
