Cordelia leveled the crossbow at the door as it creaked open. The man stopped at the threshold. There was no fear on his face, no surprise - nothing except - Cordelia was fairly certain her captor was amused that she had managed to get out of her bindings and into his weapons.
"I am not your enemy Ms. Chase," his cultured voice would have sent tingles down her back if they were in any other situation. She merely raised an eyebrow and gripped the crossbow tighter as he stepped into the room.
"Of course you're not," she quipped. "You just kidnap innocent women off the streets to have tea and crumpets."
He had the gall to chuckle. The seer was tempted to pull the trigger and be done with it, but she was curious as to why he had not attacked her yet. Angel did always say her curiousity, and her ability to attract dangerous situations (and men), would be her downfall.
"I promise you, I wish you no harm." She scoffed. He took another step in, and then away from her. "I am a man of my word."
It may have been stupid of her, but Cordelia believed him. There was something about him that she wanted to trust.
