Manasi Parekh Now that Anna Hazare's movement is successful do you see a ray of hope about corruption ending? No, I don't think so because if it was this simple everyone would go on a fast and plus the Lok Pal bill has always been a controversial issue. I read an interesting article about how if power is given to civilians, they tend to misuse it. So even if, there are civilians in the committee, what is the guarantee that they will not misuse their power and position? Anna Hazare is one of the foremost social missionaries and I respect him but the issue is not about him, the issue is corruption. Another point I noticed is that only the chairperson of the committee will be answerable to the public and no one else, so there are chances that the government will use the bill for their own benefit. However, if corruption does get curbed, it will be great. How do you think the Lok Pal Bill will help to curb corruption? I don't know if corruption can be curbed in this manner. Who decides whether the people in committee are not corrupt themselves? Do you think some people blindly supported the cause? Ofcourse. It had become the in thing, you are cool if you support Anna Hazare. It is really bad to support something just because it looks right, without even finding out the details. In fact it is worse than in-action. People are suddenly writing articles supporting the Lok Pal bill and directors are making short films. How many people even have an idea about how the bill will help us? | |||
