Part 94
The breeze through the open window was circling the cool air inside the room. Dev's eyes were closed and he was breathing calmly, as his arm was holding her closer to him. Radhika was laying with her open eyes, looking blindly in that lightly dark atmosphere, listening to his heartbeat passively. Slowly her one hand moved down, to touch her lower tummy. It just stroked over that small bulge few times, her lashes lowered in an attempt to look at it, his words were echoing inside her.. baby need more care, Her cheek still rested on his chest and her left hand kept on stroking over her lower abdomen. And as the time pass, she felt the heaviness of her lids and she gave up on it soon. Time passed by.
Radhika softly tried to move his arm away, but invlontarily he tried to hold her tight. Radhika again tried to get up...
Dev in his sleepy voice: its not morning yet Radhika, sleep
Radhika: It is already quarter to five, I need to get up.
Dev: Radhika, please
Radhika: Please
He slowly loosened his grip and let her move. As she sat...
Dev opening his heavy eyelids, looking at her with his halfly open eyes : why you need to get up this early!
Radhika: vo, I need to use the washroom..
Dev: oh ok
He turned the bed lamp on for her and laying on his stomach, resting his cheek on that pillow he said: um, call me if you need help...
Radhika: um
She slowly got down and went to her morning routine. She sat on the floor , criss crossing her legs and tried to do the jaap.
Dev moved his arm in swiping motion to check whether she is back, the lines appeared quickly as he felt the empty space next to him. He flung open his eyes and quickly sat down and looked side ways and then to the washroom door and found the closed door, he got up to check , but then found her sitting on the floor with closed eyes and her fingers were moving with touching the knuckles. Dev watched her for few minutes. Time was ticking by.
Radhika bringing both arms together in front of her eyes, she took the blessings of the Lord Almighty and then with a satisfied face, she got up from the floor. She looked at the bed and found it empty. She got curious and looked around and found him standing near the window , sipping onto steaming coffee.
Dev turned and looked at her and then with a smile : done ... saying that he went and placed his coffee cup near the bed stand.
Radhika tried to smile too
Dev went and turned the room light on.: ok then, here , come
He held on her shoulder and brought her back onto bed.
Radhika just followed him without understanding what he is trying to say...
She sat with resting her back on the headboard and placing two pillows behind for support.
Dev picked another cup and sat next to her : it's your morning drink, hot milk..
Radhika: I don't want milk, I will make a tea..
Dev: yes, you can, but this is not for you... this is for my baby, so..
Radhika looked at him surprisingly!.
Dev: ha, this is for my baby, I don't think my baby is old enough to drink a hot tea.
Radhika: but I don't feel like taking milk
Dev, holding onto her hand and taking it in his: Oh Radhika, and then tightening his forehead: one second ..Saying that he kept the cup back on the stand
Dev: let me ask my baby, ok
Saying that he lowered his face and moved near to her lower tummy.
"goodmorning princess, this is your papa, how are you?" he paused for few minutes and then kept his ears near to her tummy and showed as if he is listening to something seriously and then looking at Radhika..
"see , I told you, she is really feeling hungry, you don't know anything Radhika.. poor my little one is starving there..."
Saying that he picked the cup form the table quick and brought that near to her lips
"now , take a sip, you will feel good Radhika, trust me"
Radhika didn't had any other chance , except part her lips slightly for the bridge of that cup. She sipped little and tasted the bournvita flavor , lightly warm milk, with added sugar in it.
Dev with a smile: very tastey , na.
Radhika looked at him
Dev: I thought you may not like this plain milk, so this is the only thing I found, maybe lechu's new like... but tasty ,right?
Radhika didn't say anything and looked at him...
Time ticked by and with his talk and baby support , he made her to drink it completely.
Then with an ear to ear smile he said: see, our princess is happy now. She knows her papa makes tasty milk for her.....
Dev again took her hand in his and then looked at her face. "you took bath already!"
His eyes just lingered over the simple beauty, the freshness was glowing on her facial skin and the orange color of her churidar was reflecting on her fair skin. The cool air was circling around them. He lifted his hand up and cupped her cold cheek inside his palm. Radhika just sat there looking into his eyes. His fingers slightly moved back to her wet hair , and it just crawled down near to her back neck, he loved to feel that wetness of morning in her hair., slowly he forced slightly on her back of the neck and made her head to move her upper body to the front and his parted lips felt the softness of her cheek. His body moved slightly to the front and the hand under hair over her neck just moved to hold her closer by holding onto her opposite upper arm, and took her in his embrace., and moving his lips near to her ear, he said: I love you Radhika...
She just rested her head chin over his upper shoulder, and listened to him silently.
Moving back he tried to give her a nice smile, then making a quick move of his body, he rested his head over her lap. Taking her hand in his and wrapping it around his chest along with his arm, he said: do you know when I saw you first time like this. Then after a thought, I mean not our first meet, but otherwise, when I forgot myself for a moment unknowingly seeing you like this...
Radhika's lashes widened little bit showing the anxiety to know
Dev: when you took me to use your computer for the first time. remember? that time... But then your hair was so long, and then releasing her hand he pulled on few strands of hair to bring to the front: now it got short na, not that short , but still shorter than earlier... don't worry it will grow longer , just like that, ok. But why I didn't realize it that time, that you are mine.....
But then as if remembering something , he got up quickly, and said: one second
Radhika: can I go down? Maybe mom need help
Dev with a smile: nope, mom is still sleeping, while walking towards the cupboard, believe me, I only went down to kitchen na, mom is still sleeping. Affirming his words.
Grabbing on something he came back quick and sat next to her, showing that rolled paper in his hand, he asked: guess what is in this?
Radhika looked at him as he sat next to her.
"you really surprised me Radhika, why did you tell me lie?'
Radhika looked at him with drawing her brows to the center.
Dev holding that rolled paper inside his hand , put that around her shoulder , and then tightening his lips inside, he said after a thought : um, but not anymore, you like to keep secret, right? then looking at her face: but you know what! Nothing is secret any more Radhika , now I know you completely, ....... so you were testing me all that time? If I should have known all these na, I should have surely taken you with me, on the very first day I met you.
Radhika looked at him as she was not getting any word what he is trying to say.
Dev continued: now there is no excuse and tell me all about it? Then pausing and looking at that picture more keenly : Radhika, what if I was not looking the same?
and looked at her face, then only he noticed her confused expression.
Dev taking his arm from her shoulder, brought the paper roll in front and then slowly opened it.
Dev looking at her face: now don't tell me, you don't know anything about this, ok.
Radhika looked at that sketch, she looked at it surprisingly and then few words came out: Sushma buava!!
Dev: um, at least now she decided to show this to me, You know how many times I looked at this , to check to see any differences. Now tell me how how did you do this?
Radhika: vo, mei...
Dev: bethavona
Radhika: that i.....
Dev: tell me Radhika. How many times I asked you about that warrior picture and you easily escaped , right? But not anymore, now tell me all about it.So you only told everyone that my eyes sparkles. Then laying back on her lap, holding onto that picture: I felt like i was meeting strange people and listening to strange talk when i met Sushma buava first time... but you know what Radhika, this is my favorite now.
Holding on that sketch in his left hand, he wrapped his right arm around her waist to back and , looking at her face he asked: tell me na..
Radhika: I have seen the picture of papa back in haweli, so I kind of tried from that.
Dev suddenly rolling on his abdomen and looking at her: have you seen dad's pics!!!! i mean his younger version.....
Radhika nodded her head: um
Dev: never seen one of his old pics, Does he was looking exactly like this.....
Rahdika: not exactly, but still...
Dev: ok, then why you thought my eyes will be sparkly?
Rahdika just looked at him blindly..
Dev: bethavona Radhika.
Rahdika: vo tho mei, bas yuhi
Dev: do you remember what all you told me when I drop you first time at college, you really played with me Radhika. And more than anything you told everything to Buava! Do you know what she told me? She said she is like that, nothing significant in her life.
then changing the tone to unbelievable one he asked : Why did you tell her all that? . Radhika, I asked you because I thought you will keep that with you, what was the necessary to tell her that and all. after a pause...But still I don't know, I am not satisfied with her that simple answer, then tightening his forehead : do you know why? because she is from a nice family and still looks very beautiful, so naturally hard to digest it in that simple way. But that is what she told me, and I am ok with it. at that time my priority was different , so...Anyway leave that for now.
Radhika: did you really talk to Buava?!
Dev: um, why?
Radhika: no, simply. She thought why buava said it that way that there is nothing significant in her life? Why she said like that?
Seeing her sitting lost in her thought Dev, held her hand and brought that near to his chest and in trance he said: you were thinking about me all the time and without knowing anything...I was here, never even imagined, there is a beautiful girl who is dreaning about me and trying to draw a picture of me, she was running all around happily in that beautiful place, and the inner reason for her smile was.... that I was with her all the time, and then when she saw me , she slipped her grip and fell right into my arms. as if seeing it again in front of him , he continued... I can still imagine those eyes, that were looking at me unbelievably. But then why did you cover your face. Radhika, that was a beautiful image I have of you in my mind all the time.
Then coming back from his trance , dev sat up and in his normal spirit he said: now I am thinking why Dad and mom , hide this beautiful place from Lechu and me. Just imagine we visiting there in our childhood and then definitely we two should have met from that time, right? Then , was it be the same. After a thought, no right,.... then there is no story left, no mystery behind our meeting. You may grow as any other girl, and the image of that prince should have faded easily with age. But then looking back at her face: did it fade now? Or am I still look the same, is my eyes are sparkling Rahdika? Then with a corner smile he continued: I guess not,..... if it is, then the smile form your face never faded, you will be still giggling around, running around, and I might be hearing the sound of your payal ....
Radhika looked at him unable to say anything.
Dev: but no worries, let my little princess come, she will say my papa is the handsome prince in the whole world., right? And looking at her stomach: heina beta.
And then doubtfully looking at Rahdika: is she back to sleep?
Radhika sat silently.. listening to him..
Dev continued: um, after the milk, she may be feeling better, so she is back to sleep. Good baby. Now whenever you need something, you just tell me , ok. I will be right there at your service.
Suddenly they heard a knock at the door Dev looked at Radhika, and she was about to get up.
Dev sat up straight, sit I will open , mabe mom.
Radhika was about to get up from the bed...
"no no, you take rest beta"
She saw smiley face of Suchi coming in.
Suchi: I thought just to check with you, and then heard his talking. So thought to disturb you guys....
Dev coming behind and holding on to Suchi's shoulder : goodmorning mom
Suchi: goodmoring beta. I just came to check on Rahdika..
Dev: she is perfectly fine. Had milk and now taking rest
Suchi: Oh , that's nice, so she had something already..
Dev: um, I told her to take rest, but then when I opened my eyes, she already had her bath, and was ready to start her morning. So..
Suchi: ok then , Now tell me, what you want for breakfast?
Rahdika: anything mom, I can come too. Saying that she tried to get up again
Suchi: no no, you be here, take rest for some more time, I will call you when it get ready ok..
Radhika: No mom, I am fine
Suchi: I know, and I can see that too. I said only because it will be a long day for you. You two need to go for check up and then..
Suddeny Dev: check up again? They did that yesterday right?
Suchi: ha they did. But I want Radhika to see and know things.
Dev : why, you are here na. you only tell her..
Suchi: I know I am here, and I am just the daadi of the baby, not the doctor. So you have an 11 O'clock appointment with Dr. Sulochana..
Radhika: Sulochana! mom vo....
Suchi: Ha, she is very efficient. and then the best surprise for Lechu , she will be here around 12, and so far she doesn't know you two are here, so let see how she will react..
Dev: oh my! I am glad you reminded me , I need to get her something, otherwise she will tear me into pieces. So..
Suchi: I have no clue about that and all, that is up to you
Dev: so mom, after seeing the doctor we may go for little shopping, ok
Suchi: that's ok, as far as Radhika is fine
Radhika: I am fine mom
Dev: don't ask her, she is always fine. I am the one who is sick. grinning his face
Suchi: Dev
Dev: um
Suchi: um
Suchi: let me go and check on breakfast.
Saying that Suchi walked out.
Radhika : I am also coming mom and she went behind.
Suchi didn't say anything but gave a smile.
Surender was reading the newspaper. He saw them coming down. he looked at Radhika.
"goodmoring beta"
Radhika: goodmoring ppa
Surender: how are you feeling now?
Radhika: fine
Surender: good, you should have taken rest, we all here na
Radhiaka : I am fine papa
Surender: ok then, make sure you call Chandenpur and talked to Mohan and also Maaji.. ok
Radhika: ji
Surender folded the paper and placed on the table and climbed the stairs to Dev's room.
Time passed quickly.

Dev and Radhika were listening to the doctor carefully.
Dr. Sulochana: so ready Radhika
Radhika just nodded her head
Dr. Sulochana: Dev you can also come with us
Dev followed them. Dev held her hand as she step onto the examination table
Dr Sulochana brought the gel and saying it may feel little cooler, she brought the white sheet down little bit. Radhika just lay there quietly. The monitor turned on and Dr. brought the probe near to the prepared area. Dev looked at the monitor curiosly, as the Dr. placed the probe over her skin , some vague image appeared on the monitor. Dev moved closer to Radhika's side and held her hand. Radhika looked at him and his eyes were fixed on the monitor.
Soon a smile appeared on Sulochana's face , as the monitor showed a rapidly moving part in that image.
Dr: there the baby is, see the beat
The couple looked at the monitor unbelievably. Radhika looked at her lower tummy, she wanted to believe that is beating down there, there is a tiny life inside her. She squeezed her hand in Dev's and looked at him as she heard the heart beat. Dev was standing in shock , looking at the monitor, his eyes were filling with joy, his lips were tucked with that sweet smile, and he just forgot the world around him for a moment as he heard the beating heart. Radhika kept on looking at his reaction, a tear drop formed under her eyelid , and slowly it escaped .
Dr. Sulochana with a smile: so......., happy now.
Dev jerked and then smiled at the doctor and then looked at Radhika, and met her eyes, Dev looked at her and conveyed "did you see that? did you hear it?" she just brought her jaw down as if understanding the meaning of his look. He went and wrapped his one arm around her head and tried to hold her close.
Dr. Sulochana :ok then let me move this around and see what else we can find out.
Dev, unknowingly : Is it twins!
Sulochana turned to see his face: !!!
Dev: no just checking, in case if you can say it....
Sulochana with a smile: no , unfortunately it is not
Suddenly the next question came from Dev: is it a girl?
Dr. Sulochana smiled again: I don't know. You may need to wait for another 20 weeks to know about that.
She tried to move it around and showed the tiny limbs and she took the measurements. The couple looked at the monitor amazingly.
Wiping the gel off from her skin Sulochana continued her baby talk with Radhika. She went to wash her hands while Dev helped Radhika to stand up on her feet. Suddenly he wrapped his arm around her and placed a sweet kiss over her forehead and asked : did you see her? Thank you Rahdika, for giving this happiest time of my life. I saw my baby, her beating heart.
Radhika's eyes filled up again...
Dev smiling: I know you are happy too, but I am the lucky one, see it is a girl. sorry it's not your twins.
Radhika smiled as she heard that...
Sulochana coming near the screen: you need help?
Dev pulled back himself from near Radhika, and looked at her
Radhika repeated her fav answer: No , I am fine Dr.
They came back to their respective chairs.
Dr. discussed about her weight and the expectation, and the choices and the changes she may see or experience.
As they were driving back ...
Dev: it is coincidental ,right, the doctors name also Sulochana
Radhika smiled: um, that's what I thought when mom said this int he morning..
Dev looking front: chander bhayya, we need to do some shopping too
Chander: ok, no problem
Dev was holding onto Radhika's hand as the car was making its move forward in that busy street.
They brought few nice gifts for Lechu . Dev guided Radhika to cloth section and he selected few comfy maternity dresses for her.
Dev while walking back towards the car: you need this, and did you hear what doctor said, you need to gain weight, so your job now is to eat eat and eat, anything and everything.. no other choice for you. ok. So now drink that juice.
Radhika nodded her head, and tried to gulp it down slowly....
she held his arm as they took the escalator down the complex, and she kept on her hold till they reached near the car, while he carried the shopping bags.
Dev: Lechu might be at home now.
Radhika: um..
Chander: Lechu betiya may be very surprised to see you two. I think now there will be noice around our home.
Dev: ha, Chander bhayya let see how she will react.

Inside Delhi house
Surender: so what Sulochana said?
Suchi: ha she called and said , she talked to them, showed the baby heart beat and all, and it seems like both were in tears. good, I just want Radhika to see and feel it, so that she eat better and take care of herself.
Surender: um, Ok , you need any help here?
Suchi: no fine. Its all done..
Surender: ok
The phone rang , Surender went and took it and came to Suchi: Sarada
giving the phone he walked away..
Suchi: hello
Sarada: ha Suchi, so how is it going?
Suchi: much better
Sarada: I know, it will, I got busy , so didn't get a chance to call you.
Suchi: um, but I am feeling much better now..
Sarada: I know, but you know what, now I am really confused?
Suchi: what?
Sarada: really Suchi, when I talked to Dev, he really surprised me with his response. he didn't tell me anything clearly, but I am sure, thinking on my few questions, he was able to figure it out, even though he questioned me back with her behaviour, he kind of took it easily,
.....when a person of his age can easily defend on their stand and raise his voice blaming the other person.. which I am seeing in my daily working hours, the ego clash and refusal to accept ones own act..... Dev surprised me, even he sat in front of me with his bowed head, his questions were very reasonable but he was able to get the answer for it easily by himself..
..... so I would like to say Dev loves her so much than himself, I don't know he realized it, ,. he doesn't want her to run away like that and he wants to hold her closer. So who loves who more.In whatever sense , I would like to say... Radhika's past and Dev's present is same Suchi, they both are in deep love, they need each other. so I am sure everything will get better soon.
Suchi with a tear filled smile: Ha sarada , I also hope so..
Sarada: mum, now don't tell this to Dev ok, it is agaist my professional ethics..
Suchi: but you didn't tell me anthing private, you just told me that they both love each other so much, that's all, right..
Sarada with a smile: um
Suchi: Lechu is back
sarada: Oh then you may be busy.. good, ok then , I need to leave, you enjoy your time with your kids, and I will stop by one day. ok ..
Suchi: um
Lechu came down after her shower...
Lechu smelling the kitchen and then checking the menu: wow mom!!!, superb, so many choices, I wish to go for tours like this all the time..
Suchi pouring the curry in a bowl: why?
Lechu: then you will make all these yummy dishes na
Suchi: who said this is for you
Lechu: what! then
Suchi bite her tongue , and shrugging her shoulder: ha, this is for you , but your dad also here na
Lechu coming near, holding onto her hsoulder: oh, what happened? leaving you both for a week and when coming back, you are trying to add so sweet with pathi prem
Suchi: he also went for his business tour na, then
lechu: Oh! I am sorry, totally forgot that. So when i saw dad coming to pick me up, i also got surprised.
Surender: what is going on here?
Sechu: nothing papa, mom missed us so much , see the result of it looking at the dishes.... yumm...
They heard the bell ringing
Surender was about to go..
Suchi: Lechu you go and check
Lechu: ok mom
Suchi and Surender followed her silently....
