Robert Pattinson Plays Piano In New Orleans' French Quarter
In an outtake photo taken by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair, Robert Pattinson sat down at a piano with the world-famous Preservation Hall Band in the French Quarter of New Orleans. But it wasn't just for show — he was really playing!
New Orleans' Preservation Hall celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and Rob had the honor of jamming with the house band during his first-ever visit to the Quarter, Vanity Fair reports.
"When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano," Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band's director, and the son of the venue's founders said. "But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn't just tinkling — he really knew how to play."
The musicians thought Rob would just be pretending to play the piano for the photo shoot, but instead he played along with them.
After they finished, Jaffe recalls Rob telling him, 'That's the first time I've played with a group of guys like that."
And Rob was then rewarded with some of Jaffe's homemade red beans and rice.
Now if only Vanity Fair would release some video of Rob playing!
