Finally, it seems that Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi have become bhai-bhai. Four months after his official split with Aishwarya Rai, Vivek made a public appearance for the first time when he went to meet Salman's mother Salma Khan who is admitted in Lilavati Hospital. This is Vivek's way of saying that he is with Salman's family in their hour of need. The actor was dressed in denim jeans and arrived at the hospital with his father Suresh Oberoi and his mother.
"We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw Vivek Oberoi coming out of the car with his parents," says an eye witness in the lobby of the hospital. He walked in and asked the hospital authorities about Salman's mother. Vivek was then escorted to the room where Salma Khan has been admitted.
"Salmaji was slightly taken aback when she saw Vivek Oberoi," informs our source. "She couldn't believe that he had come to meet her. It was totally unexpected, since Vivek had called a press conference four years ago, alleging that Salman had called up and abused him while he was dating Ash. But Salmaji was extremely cordial with Vivek and his family. It was Suresh Oberoi who asked about her health. Vivek stood quietly beside his father."
Incidentally, none of the Khan brothers or Salim Khan was present when he came to meet Salma. Finally, while leaving, Vivek spoke to Salma and said, "Get well soon, aunty. Everything will be fine." Salma smiled at Vivek and said, "Shukriya beta." (Thanks son). Salma also spoke to Vivek's mother for some time.
A couple of press photographers were present at the venue when Vivek was leaving with his family. He refused to pose for them, rushed inside his car and zoomed away.
"It was a quiet visit. Vivek didn't want anyone to know about it. He did what he felt he should. He is a genuine person and he understands what Salman's family is going through," says a close friend of Vivek.
We tried to get in touch with Vivek Oberoi for his comments, but his cellphone was switched off.
