N.C. Karunya out of Indian Idol |
When it was declared that the 19-year-old, N.C. Karunya, was not in the final four of the evening, his heart sank. "I felt it was the end for me. If people had not voted for me even on my best performance, then something must have really gone wrong. But then Aman (Verma) announced that there had been a tie amongst two contestants and that I was in too. My heart went hmmm⦠literally," says an elated Karunya. A favourite with the judges, Karunya is from Hyderabad and is known for his resemblance with Abhishek Bachchan. Another person who too has something to celebrate is the 20year-old mass media student, Sagar Savarkar. "I am still embarrassed walking on the road. I didn't know people watch the show with such dedication," says Sagar. He is looking forward to a makeover. "When Abhijeet Sawant came for the audition round, he was just an ordinary looking boy-next-door. Today he is a star persona," he says. While Karunya and Sagar are enjoying their moment in the sun, 29-year-old Ravi Tripathi from Mumbai knows only luck sailed him through. "I was not satisfied with my performance and the judges too seem to have argued over me. But now that I am through I plan to make the most of the opportunity." Next week, Indian Idol 2 will see the first group of all-girls perform for a place in the final. The seven girls are Renuka Deshpande, Neha Kakkar, Monali Thakur, Yeshashree Bhave, Ritu Pathak, Aabha Hanjura and Dilpreet. Catch them on Sony Entertainment Television tonight. |
