Akriti is shown walking up and down in her bedroom, figuring out how to get of the problem. She decides to go to the kitchen, to remove the pouch of gold coins from the wheat container. As she is looking at the container, she hears some one asking for water, and the mother says, she will bring water for him, but is told not to bother. Then Akriti climbs on the chair, brings down the box and removes the pouch. As she notices her mother is coming, she puts the pouch back and when the mother asks her what she was doing, she says she was taking the wheat for grinding. Mother tells her it was done the previous day, and she says, she forgot.


In the hall, the Patwardan family is discussing about the recent theft that took place in Naina's office. Among the family members, Damodar Patwardan and his wife Vibha are the only ones who do not give their opinion, and the most vocal in his accusations is Daksh the Lawyer, and his sister in law Rohini with her additives of sarcastic barbs. Sanket throws in his little bit. They all seem to find fault with Vibha for showing undue affection and trust towards Naina. Daksh is stuck in his groove, like a faulty gramophone record, repeating the self same accusation, that Naina is a liar, and therefore she can not be trusted. One could argue how he would define Naina's overt half truths, with his cousin's blatant falsehoods, which she utters to cover up her own mischief, which has landed the whole family in the soup, and if found, it is she who will go to jail, and put all of these upright guys to shame.

With glib smoothness, they all condemn Naina, on circumstantial evidence, and do not bother to see, beyond what meets the eye. How often, truth evades us, just because we are hasty to reach to conclusions, and not at all observant of facts around us. Akriti's tension has been noticed by her mother, but she has not come to any conclusion, because her own child can not be the one who can take the rap. The same goes to the family Lawyer, who in his intemperate hatred of this new girl, is blind to every thing around him. Senior Patwardan, being a Professor and with experience of many years, is slow to make his pronouncements, rather he has made no pronouncement so far, but with lowered head, is having his own thoughts about his family people.

The flamboyant Uncle is overflowing with self confidence, on borrowed money and time. It is a case of "Blind leading the Blind".

When they have already decided, that Naina is the thief, and they have to be ready to face the Police, and some one suggests, that they pay Ms Nair off, and Rohini wants it to be done by the Uncle, and he refusing, with the excuse that the theft took place in the office, every one is trying to put the blame on the other.

They show their superior intelligence, by telling their mother, Vibha that she was wrong, and she in turn, saying that still it will be evident that she was right, and the thief is someone else.

Just then, Naina walks in, and the Lawyer, in his self righteous indignation, starts questioning her, and throwing accusations right and left. She is cool, and replies that she went to meet her suppliers.

She goes into the office and throws all things down from the table and shelves, and finds, Akriti's dupatta, and then a small piece which looks like some part of Akriti's ornaments. She then recalls everything about Akriti that preceded her employment with her. She suspects but is not yet ready to make any accusation, a far cry from Mr Lawyer's personality.

At home Akriti goes to the kitchen to take the pouch of gold coins from the wheat box, and when she removes and then her mother comes in and she shows her anxiety. The mother does not push further, and lets her go away with her lame excuse. It is natural for a parent, not to notice anything wrong with their own children.

Naina and Vibha too are then talking about praying to Ganesha, who will show them the thief, and Naina's eyes fall on the bangles Akriti was wearing. Something tells her the truth is close. She walks to her and tells Vibha the thief has been found, but not any thing further.

She goes back to the office, and then goes over and over the things that happened, and recollects how Akriti was a gifted girl, and very creative in her work. This could be a clue, but still she does not make up her mind. She then walks to the window, and sees it is open, and then recalls that she always used to close it. The thief has definitely walked out of the window.

At home Akriti wants to finish the job she started to hide the gold coins. She is in her room, and she hears her mother calling from the kitchen, her son Vedant for some work, and she wonders if the mother has found out any thing what she did, and rushes to the kitchen.

She is going up the steps, as her father is coming down, and they knock against each other, and the father gets wild and wants to hit her. She has dropped something which was valuable to him. Mother comes to the daughter's defense and takes her to the kitchen to pacify her. What an irony ! The case is still open, and all of us hope it will be closed, with Daksh eating up his own words.
