Everyday there is one post on how Runjhun can be stronger woman, grow a backbone and last week Divya posted a topic on what would some of us do in Runjhun's place. This week I'd like to know what you all consider a strong woman to be. A lot of people have commented that women today are not like Runjhun who don't speak up or are too nice, etc. Does that necessarily make her a weaker woman because she isn't like what women today are like? Are all women still empowered today, and what does female empowerment actually mean?

When we look down on other women because they are too weak to speak or are silent sufferers, does that makes us stronger than the other women? Does being shy and hesitant to speak up necessarily make you weak?

So what would you define as a strong women? A women who has courage to stand up for herself? A woman who speaks up or doesn't speak? A women who is honest, gracious and compassionate? A strongheaded, willful, stubborn woman? What would you consider traits to have and traits not to have?

Looking forward to you responses and thoughts...

I do think in todays world also there are still women like Runjhun or worst than the character Runjhun.some of us have the luck to be educated or very educated like graduate with a good job etc etc that all depend on the situation and how psychologically a woman can and is able to deal with everyday life, and mainly the problem which she has to face, how she can tackle with it this is the important point.
some only for love accept to be humiliated mainly wife it does exist in every part of this world though it is Europe,America which are also known to be women oriented countries.
For me a strong woman is someone who has the power to take the right decision for herself and know how to tackle every problems coming her way,and obviously someone whose not afraid of others.

For me i think all women are strong in their own ways. Some are really introverts and are too shy to speak and I have seen some women like this but when time comes they all become strong. It depends what situation one is in.
I am a shy person but I believe that if someone has done the wrong thing they should be punished for that. And even if it's your own family or the person is some how related to you, you should fight for the right thing.
Runjhun is not wrong too she did what she felt was right. And we will see what destiny has for Runjhun after all this!!!!!

Agree with alujna-21 and shanak.hot.

There are some NRI women whom i have seen, extremely shy and afraid DUE to the family background they comes from. I'm one of them.. But, in my case, my families love me too much.. And, too protective.. The reason: I'M HEARING IMPAIRMENT. I can't hear and speak well.

I'm actually afraid that whenever i speak, i would get being bullied, teased, by the people.. And it true based on my experience.. I'm totally depending on my mother.. As a single parent, she is a very strong lady.

Everyday, she would train me on my speech- i'm still trying to learn to speak.. so that i can speak up and stand on my own two feet..

I agree how a women deals with a difficult situation says a lot about her...this works for anybody. We can say we're this or that, but in tough situations we can be nothing we say. I think the ability for anyone to work through a hard situation and come out better makes them stronger. I know there are benefits of being educated, but being less educated in my opinion doesn't necessarily take away from the person. I also think that being afraid of others doesn't necessarily make you weak. It's okay to be intimidated sometimes...its what makes us human our fears and insecurities, but coming out of those, or having the courage to stand up for what you believe makes us better and stronger...

Situations matter a lot, and you can't really pinpoint the strength of a person based on one setting or one situation, since a lot of things are at play and the dynamic of each situation is different. Sometimes its wiser not to say anything and sometimes its foolish to stay silent. Unfortunately there's no manual on when and what is the right thing to say. Runjhun character places value on sentiments and emotions so she fights for the values that are tied to those, but not for herself. Runjhun rarely stands up for herself, rather others. This doesn't necessarily make her a weak person but rather someone who places herself after others, which is a rare thing, and usually for most self preservation kicks in before we sacrifice for others. I too hope that something good is stored for Runjhun in all of this...her character keeps on evolving so we can see different changes that different situations bring to her life.

😊 Thanks for sharing your personal experience...I'm sure you'll do fine on your own when its needed of you...

Having a support system does give you strength when you have to face your fears. Though too much of a good thing can also be bad. I tell my parents this. I know my family has always sheltered me or protected me too, and sometimes I'm afraid that I'm not ready to deal with the real world. I've also seen kids whose parents to protect them from the harsh realities of the world coddle them, which sometimes does more harm than good.

It is hard, and sometimes its not really you but the other person you come into contact with who is not so accepting of you that make you worry, and sometimes as females we judge other females too harshly...we're more forgiving of the male species rather than the female species...I'm not saying that is true for all but just something I've noticed.

@ everyone who has commented on this page so far~ I love your answers. I think it was a great idea to post this topic up Wafah👏.

@ Prabhkallu~ I find your reply very touching. Unfortunately, there are people out there who are plain rude~ I'm thinkin' about what u said about people being rude to you when you'd speak. I salute both u & your mom👏

I would not say that Runjhun is not a strong girl & just leave it at that. She is quite passive towards her family members but the tigress in her unleashes w/non-family members. The lectures she gave to both Guddu & Abhi are examples of her aggressive side. The lecture she gave Guddu was quite harsh- by saying whatever he has touched has become impure & by throwing the items that he touched in the fire in front of him & saying that she thinks he's disgusting- no wonder why he got sooo freakin' aggravated. Her words aggravated him so much that he went to the extent of touchin' her. He never thought of touching her before she gave him this lecture. It can take some people years to go from being quite passive towards family members they care about to being more the opposite towards them. I was seriously like Runjhun at one time. I wouldn't speak up. I had all these chances to but I wouldn't bother speakin' up. I would get my feelings hurt & the person who hurt me wouldn't receive anything from me. So I totally understand Runjhun's mentality. When I was a lot younger I was around as aggressive as her & at times even less aggressive than her. To me, the answer to your question is quite broad, there is no specific answer but one of the first things that come to my mind when it comes to answering this question, is a women who fights for what what she believes in which we have seen Runjhun do- this was shown when she lectured Abhi & Guddu. She told the police truth when they were questioning about Guddu molesting her & she also withdrew the complaint so Guddu could get out of jail. No one really told her to do all of this but she felt it was wrong for him to be in jail for something he didn't even do. She could have had an argument w/Vishnu & Kalsonwali regarding gettin' Guddu released from jail since he didn't do anything to her but arguing is not what she does a lot of the time. Anyways, at least she had the guts to go to the jail & withdraw the complaint. She stood up for what she believed in again when she told Abhi that she refuses to get a medical exam because it goes against her beliefs. She might not be as strong as some other main heroines on other shows but I think it's impotant that Zee tv show more of a mix when it comes to strengths & weaknesses of the main heroine. If all the main heroines are very strong & they're all just as strong well that's way too much of a coincidence & kind of a joke. I strongly do feel that it's important to show main heroines as being strong but in reality different people progress differently when it comes to their personality, mentality & attitude changing in their lives. My uncle (my mom's bro) put up w/my aunt's crap for many years, another guy would have divorced her a long time back & would not have been as nice as how he was to her. Different people have different levels of tolerance. Runjhun has seems to have quite a bit of tolerance towards people like her family members & Guddu. She lost her tolerance w/him right after he auctioned off her wedding items though. Him auctioning off her wedding items- for her this act act seemed like it went past her limit. She tolerated his ill behavior towards her until he performed this act. Just because it's 2011 that doesn't mean there are no women in this world who are like Runjhun. There are girls like her in this world but a lot of people don't happen to know anyone like her. I think it would be good to keep inmind that Runjhun doesn't have any friends. U could consider her nani her friend but I'm thinkin' outside influence here. Outside influence meaning she doesn't have any outside influence- people outside of her family. If she had at least one friend outside of her family than I don't know if I'd think the same way of her. The only outside influence she's had is mainly Abhi & I feel like they hardly talked to each other. Guddu & her are not even friends but she will be more immersed in outside influence after she marries Guddu. Guddu, Kukkan, & Jabbo will be her outside influence. I'm pretty sure something will happen in the future where she will seriously speak up to at least one of her aunts. I can totally see her gettin' into an argument w/Mitho when Mitho tries is kinda forcing Mahadevi to abort her & Jabbo's baby (like I've said before the baby is conceived before marriage). I can totally see Runjhun holding Mahadevi in her arms & scolding Mitho, sayin' that Mitho shouldn't deprive god's gift- a child from her own daughter which is also her grandchild.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Runjhun did not know about Mitho & Kalsonwali's attemptin' to poison nani until nani told her about it after the police left. Who knows, just maybe she would have thought twice. Runjhun also has a big heart & it seems like it's in her nature to have a big heart & please everyone in her family, she puts everyone before herself. There are people in this world who are more on the extreme side when it comes to putting people before themselves & she is one of them.

I like to think of this show which I love by the way as the journey of a woman (Runjhun) & a man (Guddu). How their mentalities, their outlook on life, & their personalities change. They both need growin' up to do. She needs to become more aggressive & give more importance to herself & he needs to become more understanding & sympathetic (sympathetic- basically meaning he needs to soften up), especially towards Runjhun.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Having a support system does give you strength when you have to face your fears. Though too much of a good thing can also be bad. I tell my parents this. I know my family has always sheltered me or protected me too, and sometimes I'm afraid that I'm not ready to deal with the real world.
