Best Male Playback Singer
The Best Male Playback Singer is a category that always sees a tough fight with many worthy nominees and this year too was no different. However, in the end it is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who has emerged as the winner courtesy his popular number 'Tere Mast Mast Do Nain' from Dabangg. At second spot is Pakistani sensation Atif Aslam whose chartbusting track 'Tere Liye' from Vivek Oberoi starrer Prince was a favourite at most nightclubs. It may be recalled that Atif was the winner of this category last year for his superhit song 'Tu Jaane Na' from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. This year however, Rahat was the clear winner with 28% votes in his favour.
Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said, "I am very grateful to the people who have voted for me and loved my song. I would also like to thank Sajid-Wajid for composing such a beautiful song and Salman bhai because of whose performance the song became so popular worldwide. Thank you very much for this special honour."
Best Female Playback Singer
This year saw a lot of new talent in the field of music and the most popular among them was Mamta Sharma the voice behind the super-duper hit track 'Munni Badnaam' from Dabangg. Deservingly it is Mamta Sharma who has been voted by all of you as the Best Female Playback Singer this year.
Mamta, who has won most of the popular awards for 'Munni Badnaam', was overjoyed when Bollywood Hungama broke the news to her about her winning this special award. She said, "I am feeling on top of the world as this award is based on audience votes. Besides these being exclusive Music awards, it holds all the more significance to me. I am very happy."
While Mamta emerged the winner in this category with 22% votes, leading playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan wasn't too far behind with her 'Sheila Ki Jawani' bagging 20% votes. Interestingly, the winner and runner-up of last year namely Alisha Chinai and Kavita Seth do not feature anywhere in this year's list of Best Female Playback Singers.
Best Lyricist
To write beautiful words that reflect the true mood of a song is not child's play and this is where our lyrics writers come into the picture. The year gone by saw some really beautiful lyrics written but none better than 'Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji' from Ishqiya worded by the master himself- Gulzar. Needless to say, it is Gulzar who wins the Audience's vote for the Best Lyricist by a huge percentage of votes -31%.
The runner up in this category is another talented young writer Irshad Kamil who gave romance a whole new meaning with the song 'Pee Loon' from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Incidentally, Irshad was the winner of this category last year for 'Tu Jaane Na' from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
Best Song
The year 2010 saw some really popular songs which were played all over the place but in the end it was the slow romantic number 'Tere Mast Mast Do Nain' from Dabangg which emerged as the winner in this category with 21% votes.
Sajid-Wajid who have composed the song have indeed hit the jackpot with this number. An elated Wajid said, "We are really happy that our song 'Tere Mast Mast Do Nain' has been voted the Best Song by the audience. It's also one of my favourite songs. I would like to also thank Faiz Anwarji for writing the beautiful lyrics and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan saab and Shreya Ghoshal for singing this song so beautifully."
The first runner-up in this category was 'Pee Loon' from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai which also became a love anthem of sorts last year.
Best Music Video
They say that the way a song is picturized also plays a very important role in helping the song gain popularity and hence this category where we honour the Best Music Video. This year the winner of the Best Music Video is a song which set new benchmarks as far as item numbers are concerned. Yes'you guessed it right it's none other than 'Sheila Ki Jawani' from Tees Maar Khan. The song featured Katrina Kaif at her sexiest best and became an instant chartbuster. Incidentally, another super-popular song 'Munni Badnaam Hui' (also choreographed by Farah) from Dabangg came a close second in the Best Music Video category. While 'Sheila Ki Jawani' garnered 36% of the votes, 'Munni Badnaam' raked in 35% of the votes.
We got in touch with director Farah Khan who was elated on hearing about 'Sheila Ki Jawani' winning the Best Music Video. Farah said, "Wow! That's so nice to hear that Sheila has bagged the Best Music Video. It feels happy that 71% of the votes are for two of my songs. Both these songs Sheila and Munni have made much more news and noise than some of the big-budget films last year. I have never seen any song become a craze like these two songs in my career so far. 'Sheila Ki Jawani' is a favourite among kids who keep dancing to it. As a song, Sheila had more variety than Munni as we kept changing the sets and even Katrina is seen sporting various different costumes. Katrina has never done something like this before and it indeed made people sit up and take notice of her dancing skills. We also had proper belly dancing in the song which also was an added attraction. Besides Sheila being part of my own film, I had even more pressure to deliver nothing but the best. I am happy that people have loved the song so much."

Best Choreographed Song
In the best choreographed song category too, it was a close fight between two of Farah Khan's numbers 'Sheila Ki Jawani' from Tees Maar Khan and 'Munni Badnaam' from Dabangg. In the end, it is 'Munni Badnaam' which you guys have voted for as the Best Choreographed Song. While 'Munni Badnaam' got 35% votes, 'Sheila Ki Jawani' got 29% votes.
When we got in touch with Farah and told her about Munni having won the Best Choreographed song, she said, "Both the songs 'Munni' and 'Sheila' are my babies and I am happy they are Top 2 songs in the Most Choreographed category as voted by the audience. 'Munni' is a revelation. We went for a rustic choreography style for that song. I've worked with Malaika before and know that she is a fabulous dancer. So it was much more relaxed atmosphere on the sets."
