We were trying to cheer up Nandini didi but we ended up upsetting her further. I am wondering how we will make her realize that we are her well wishers and want to see her happy again. Even though we want to see her back with Mohit, we are a little hesitant of planning anything because we are afraid of increasing the misunderstanding between them. Right now, their miscommunication has resulted in a lot of chaos and confusion. I suppose they need to have a talk with each other and sort out their misunderstandings. I know it's a clash of egos, which is why I hoped that Naitik and I could have acted as catalysts to help Nandini didi and Mohit get together.
The family's attention was diverted from Nandini didi's problems for a while as the Jindal family visited to meet Rashmi as a prospective bride for their son Suraj. Everyone was happy and excited after the Jindal's approved of Rashmi, but Rashmi was worried as she did not know anything about her husband-to-be. Naitik and I somehow managed to convince Gayatri ma to allow Rashmi to meet Suraj alone. Both of us were happy and we got nostalgic remembering our first meeting. We laughed as we discussed our nervousness as well as our argument, at that time we had never imagined that we will be such a happy couple someday. Both of us were hoping that Rashmi and Suraj are meant for each other, just like Naitik and I. I guess that's the beauty of an arranged marriage. You don't know what to expect and it's a mystery. The beauty is that your family has your best interests at heart and the final call is yours when you decide whether you want to marry the other person.
On the day of the meeting I did not reveal to Rashmi that Gayatri ma has agreed to her meeting Suraj. It was a nice surprise for Rashmi.
After Rashmi and Suraj met, I tried to find out about Rashmi's feelings for Suraj but she was unusually quiet. I was a little worried but Naitik explained to me that she must be feeling shy to discuss the matter with us. I can understand that she must be hesitant because it is not easy for girls to openly discuss such issues with their family.
However later at home I was in for a shock when Rashmi revealed that she does not wish to marry Suraj. I am now tense about how the family will react to Rashmi's decision but I also know that we will have to inform them as soon as possible, so that she isn't unhappy. Like I said, arranged marriages are not about parents forcing you to get married.
