Ten years back Gaurav Chopra was pursing a course in fashion designing at NIFT in Delhi. Thanks to his rugged looks he got into modelling and today the Delhi lad has already achieved superstardom on television and has acted in a big Hollywood film (albeit a small role in the Leonardo Di Caprio starrer Blood Diamond). He will be next seen in an unnamed Bollywood production to be released by the end of February or beginning of March.
Till recently, Gaurav ruled TV soapdom as the suave and sophisticated Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore in the hit serial Uttaran but of late his character has been missing from the show. On being asked about his absence he says, "I will let you in on a secret. I have a film release lined up which is on the lines of the Hollywood flick The Hangover. I was missing from Uttaran because I was shooting for the film."
He, however, is not willing to divulge much about the film, "I can't reveal more, but I will say this, there are three characters and I play the role Bradley Cooper played in the Hollywood version."
Gaurav also has a $60 million Hollywood project coming up which should release sometime in 2012. "I can't reveal anything more thanks to a strict non-disclosure contract," he says.
About his career choices, the actor who was in town to act in the play Four Play that was staged recently, says, "I have always been very careful to not get typecast in any one kind of role. I like to explore different facets of different characters. If you look at the kind of roles I have done in serials, they have mostly not been the central characters. I usually come in suddenly, hog the limelight for some time and then go away. But I will be returning to Uttaran."
