Archana should be allowed to work, why else did she take classes? Today that education will come in handy, like in helping her spouse.
A quick note about helping Manav moving up the ranks of the job world...
Archana could teach him to read and write in English and that alone would open doors for him in a big way.
She is an excellent educational resource right there in his own house!
I'd rather he learn English, take a few classes, just like she did, familiarize himself with PCs and then learn to fix them or sell them or whatever, even get a desk job and work in a office or do data entry, etc, start out small and work his way up...
Our Manav would wear a suit to work! Wouldn't be a hoot! And then see the ratings go up, because he will look dashing!
The girls will tune in just to see him!
Of course, the CVs won't allow this because he has to play the character of a down trodden mechanic, lekin kabhi na kabhi tou yeh mechanic banne ke din bhi khatam honge...

Plus, Archana will give him that one thing Savita stole from him as a child, a chance at an education. She had enough dough for her other 2 kids to get educated, but not Manav.

If he educates himself with Archu's loving help, his character will grow, evolve and feel a sense of pride. Archana will be his teacher and start out with the alphabet, then numbers, then phrases and they can throw in a lot of romance in this closeness.
Every test he passes will be a celebration of their will to succeed and increase their sense of intimacy emotionally.
Satish would be a big help in getting him a higher paying job, in the meantime, Archu could work. I mean she actually studied for this, why keep her talents cooped up at home?
