Okay i agree bollywood has been going downhill with no original or interesting plot. I have lost hope after JWM and Munna Bhai MBBS...I haven't liked any film. This year I only loved OUATIM. OTher films I liked had flaws in it...like Rajneeti and Golmaal 3 and BBB.

But to come to songs being vulgar these days. I disagree. How does for example Shelia ki jawani (am guessing that's the song ppl are talking about here) any worse than some of the sexy songs that Maduri and Serdevi did in the rain with their wet saris?

The people were the same but the films have changed for the worst...honestly if I hear one more fake rap song...🤬 And speaking of songs what ever happened to songs and dances?
Why the heck do I want to watch an Indian film to look at a bunch of scantily clad blonde women gyrating in a nightclub that's supposed to be in Dubai/Australia/New York etc. ANYPLACE but in India!!!!
I miss Udit Narayan dammit!😭
And I miss pretty heroines who didn't look half European. I miss Hindi films IN HINDI and not 2/3rds English.
I miss...oh I'm sure I'll think of more later but right now I'm going to go back and rewatch Darr.
Edited to say: I miss heroines who had curves and were a realistic hight, common to the majority of the population yet were still considered pretty. I'm so sick of stick skinny women who can't be below 5'9" Honestly it's not a copy of bloody VOGUE, it's a MOVIE.

😆
So true, movies these days are all shot abroad, all actresses are either model turned actors or star kids, very rare does a movie have a good message or issue it tackles! and sick to death of Akshay kumar nonsense comedy, Katrina kaif says shes british but has a american/canadian accent lol
Wish they could make clever and dun films like Inception or comedy like the hangover where u dont force yourself to laugh
Actresses like her and PC make huge sums of money but too greedy to give anything back to the country e.g tax raids
and every song has foreign dancers, vulgar moves and copy or rip offs from American music videos. India has so much to offer and has their own identity they should work on that

Just curious....did the people posting in this topic grow up in the '90s? It seems like it....all the nostalgia 😊.

I did detest films like Mohra, Raja Babu and Karan Arjun even back then.....but at least the characters spoke HINDI and there was an attempt to relate to the man on the street. Today they only target multiplex-going teenagers and NRIs.

WORD!!!

The only thing I detested about Bollywood in the 90s was the 3.5+ hour limit and the countless number of songs in every film, both two things that have been mitigated to a reasonable amount now.

But the rest, which I have highlighted in red, I completely detest. Especially the actresses being as tall as a pole and not looking Indian at all. I'm not being racist or anything; if an actress has the chops then I couldn't care, but when a lot of them start looking so different from most Indian people in general then I start to wonder😆 They're all either 5'9" plus (or wear heels to cover it up) or they're less than 5 feet tall😕 And they all look like they should have chosen modeling instead because they have beautiful faces

And have you noticed that female background dancers are white blonds while male background dancers are Indian?😕
