Thanks to mm556 I was made aware of Karunya's interview in Gemini TV and obviously immediately went looking for it....didn't take me long to hit the jackpot and for about 40 mins I was hooked!!! š If you are fortunate enough to understand Telugu (please don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting regionalism) then you would've been able to become his fan all over again! His respect for and his command on Telugu is absolutely refreshing in an age when not a lot of youth is not even familiar with their matrubhasha. His telugu was impeccable sort of comparable to the Shudh Hindi spoken by news reporters. šIt is hard to find older adults who speak such wonderful telugu leave alone the youth! He spoke of his love for the language and also of his passion for all other languages as well which clearly indicates why his Hindi is just as good!
Anyways moving on to the actual interview it is so wonderful to hear him speak about his passion for music, his Carnatic training, his lifestyle, his family and his II2 experiences. The one thing I felt like doing while hearing his talk was to congratulate his parents on raising such a fine young man who was able to wade off a lot vices that might tempt people his age and give his life to his music and become such a mature, sensible and humble person in the process. š He talked about his best friend Meenal and how she gives him feedback all the time and about how everyone at II2 babied him since he is one of the youngest contestants and one of the most talented as well. He spoke about how II2 helped him to rediscover himself and to break through his conventional thinking and to become a performer! He also spoke highly of his family and his gurus who made him love his music which is what reflects in his performances now and also about his idols!
You could tell from his interview that he's much like any other 19 year old but also very dedicated to his music at the same time. He mentioned how Carnatic sangeet brought maturity and discipline into his life and at the same time also indicated how people's comments about him having relaxed after Amey's ousting had made him depressed during the cafe rounds. His self-confidence was what saw him through it all and what is still keeping him going and it was nice to hear him say that the presence or absence of any participant isn't what determines his performance but it's more his competition with himself that makes him perform better each time! He also spoke of how nervous he gets before his performances but how he feels like a King once he's on stage. Well we all know that he just BELONGS on the stage! His humility was clearly obvious when at the end he requested everyone to watch both him and Sandeep in II2 and vote for him not because he's a Hyderabadi but only if they think his performance is worth their votes! I think if after watching this interview people don't vote for him then it's absolutely their loss and an insult to talent itself since Karunya's good nature and extreme amount of talent will see to it that he reaches great heights but what excuse will the aam janta have for not voting for such a deserving candidate!
I know that the contents of the interview was already posted but I just wanted to highlight some of the points which made me his fan all over again! Thanks for letting me go through with my emotional outburst here and finally VOTE FOR KARUNYA if you really think he deserves it and if possible put in a couple of extra votes from my side! š³
