Humko Deewana Kar Gaye | Bipasha Basu returned from shooting Dhoom 2 in Brazil to find her face plastered on buses and hoardings for the promotion of Raj Kanwar's Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, which releases next week.

No. When I signed Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, a long time back, during my Barsaat days, I wanted to do commercial Bollywood films. I was supposed to do two films with Raj Kanwar — a special appearance in HDKG and another film, which is on hold.
HDKG was narrated to me as a love story with two leads — Akshay and Katrina and two special appearances — male and female. I am the female special appearance.
This was in my contract. We had mutually agreed that I wouldn't feature anywhere in the publicity or promos because it's not a triangular love story and I have a tiny role. What's changed now?
I came back from Brazil to find my face, with Akshay's and Katrina's, plastered on buses and newspapers. I am amused that I am being put in the publicity material for such a small role. I have not shot a single publicity still for the film so how have they got my images? From where?
For different films, we work very hard to maintain different looks. Obviously they have got it from another film of mine.
They used my photos without my knowledge and consent and that is very unfair! I have no role in the film and to promote it as my film is cheating the audience. I had total faith in the makers but they have let me down. Why did you agree to the special appearance?
I agreed because Akshay is a great friend of mine and I had a nice song. Why would I do a film where I play second fiddle in a love story? The reason I wasn't giving any interviews for HDKG was because they wanted me to be the surprise element.
My character and the male character were to be hidden. Now I don't know why they are promoting my presence in the film. It's not a triangular love story but a love story between Akshay and Katrina, who is a newcomer. Why would I do a negligible role in a two-way love story? Have you spoken to Raj Kanwar?
I haven't, but my manager has tried calling him. He hasn't responded to his calls. I wanted to talk to the publicity designer, Rahul Nanda, to find out who had given the photos, but he's not well and his phone is off. It's scary that anyone can use my picture for anything. |
