Why is devyani like this?

I haven't watch the serial completely but i know what's going on the serial. i am right now watching the scenes of Aditya and Priya. After priya finds aditya is police officer son, she refuses to marry him, then the parents go to her house but when they are at the door the father has to go coz of important works, he tells her to say his name infront of them and they will agree. when she goes to priya she says she is proud to say, mrs........ but when she comes out she feels sad and uncomfortable, why is that? could someone explain it to me?

She knows what he is like but her family, children come first and she will do whatever it takes to uphold the maryada of her home. I think to a point she is good, very self sacrificing (the epitome of womenhood) but I can't help thinking sooner or later she is going to clash with Priya, who is all about being open and truthful. Devyani, we have seen time after time, looks the other way and prefers to gloss over the unplesantness of life....almost willing by sheer strength for things to go her way (think of gaurav and her determination he beds his wife!).

She told priya she is proud to be Mrs...whatever, but the truth is she isn't. She feels sad that she had to lie about this, almost bringing Priya into their home under false pretense....because she knows her husband is not someone to be proud of.....her reaction outside is one of self disgust and sadness.
