He respected nakusha for her inside beauty and not the way she looks, he gave her respect and love that is the right of every human being without any inhibitions or reservations. In the earlier episodes, and i am talking of like february-march episodes and also dutta's intro scene - dutta jumped to rescue nakusha from morey and to save her honor and then again, when nakusha was in her fair avatar and was trying to save herself from morey's goons,he promptly rushed to save her and not look the other way around.Seriously, these days this is a rarity and you won't often find men to save a damsel in distress and rush to save her.

Dear SB,
I love Dutta precisely for the reason as you stated, he saw inner beauty, his natural tendency to help the downtrodden, etc etc., but as a self respecting woman I cannot accept he slaps his wife in public no matter how emotionally charged he had become or how he misunderstood the situation etc etc., as a woman I cannot connect with his this action.
And no matter how much the creatives would try and justify and Naku will say I am happy who showed your possessiveness towards me, I still cannot accept it for I know how in this country women are facing physical assault at home...

@ red...you are absolutely right...we cannot accept this...it is not only against dutta's character ...it is also turning him into a hypocrite and that is character assassination...

Hey, I am not sure, but I think he hit Baji Rao too. It was when Baji was getting him to join the singing and dancing or force him to do something during Sups time. Held the gun to Baji's temple, when he tried to stop Dutta from forcibly marrying Nakku.
He was violent with Sups too. He did not hit her. He just threw stuff, when she 'humed and hawed' to his question if she was really willing to marry him or there was something she wanted him to know. Or bounced back the dining table chair.
Dutta is violent. But controlled. He loses control only with Nakku.
I will be worried, if it becomes a habit with him.
