My Take😊(thanks Anj, Ann and Gou for your help when I was stuck 🤗)
Hello everyone 🤗 Hope you are ready for some fundas and (in case of CVs of GHSP) dandas 😈 (chill 😉 episode wasn't as bad as it had seemed during the live update 😆)
Episode began on a GOOD note. Geet-Dadi interaction was natural and comfort shared between the future bahu and gradmother-in-law was very much evident 😊.I liked it 👍🏼. Finally CVs are depicting the Geet-Dadi interactions the way they are supposed to be - Familiar and Affectionate😊.
What I liked even more was Geet's end of the argument in that East vs West debate 😊. I liked the fact that she didn't try to put one culture above the other. Take the best from the west but don't forget your roots and more specifically your values. Geet's confidence and her groW*H as a person was evident. She was self-assured and didn't falter even once. Her dignity and measured response were augmented by Drashti's (as usual 😆) 10/10 performance. (I'll come to Nikunj's acting 🤢 later)
Coming to the UGLY part (all ugly parts are CVs related 😆), what the hell was this debate and scene? It has to be the most cliched, random scene ever. Mediocre dialogues and absolutely no connection between where the so called debate began and ended.
I'm guessing the purpose of this scene was conflict - a depiction of the difference of opinion between Geet and Anvesha and their differing perspectives and the CVs may also have tried to depict Anvesha as a woman with strong opinions and not a bimbo but couldn't a better debate be generated or better dialogues used for this lame excuse of a debate? A huge thumbs down to Barry Dhillon and CVs for mediocre dialogues, generalization and over-simplification (evident via Anvesha's dialogues).
Moving on to the Presentation (another good part of the episode 😆) this scene brought to the forefront important points of Geet and Maan's characterization. In case of Geet it was putting into practice what she had said earlier about working hard and pretty much building a name and respect for yourself. You don't need to be tied down by any culture for that. Here was a very earthy girl with as INDIAN an upbringing as any and yet she took up the challenge of giving a presentation she wasn't supposed to or prepared for. Her confidence, expertise and clarity of ideas can be assumed because she very clearly impressed the clients. What's more important is that she didn't back down or felt pressured but simply took up the challenge. That is a twenty first century woman for you, one who is beyond the typical cultural definitions of womanhood and femininity. The fact that Maan exhibited confidence in her ability to carry on with the presentation is clear evidence of Geet being very successful in curving out a niche for herself - one that has nothing to do with her beliefs and culture. YOU ARE NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE DEFINED BY YOUR CULTURE OR YOUR UPBRINGING - a fact that many of us would do well to remember 😉. And oh after doing all that work in the office, she still went home and prepared a surprise for her man 👍🏼. Who says you can't balance home and career? And was Geet in any way lowered in our eyes or somehow demeaned because she went and made a dinner for her fiance? NO! A true woman of substance i would say 😊. One who is perfectly able to create a balance in her life/world.
As far as Maan is concerned, the CVs very clearly depicted his priorities. For Maan it will always be family/loved ones first 😳 He may have seemed like an egoistic workaholic but in his own eccentric way Maan has his priories straightened out. At the same time he is not a fool 😆. He left the presentation knowing he was leaving it in capable hands of his Shona 😍.
Moving on to what has to be the most controversial part of the episode 😆 Maan-Anvesha interactions 😳.
Ok frankly speaking I didn't like it at all on my first watch. Hated the way MSK was being ruined (yeh that's the way I saw it😆) with that over the top pampering and sorry 🤢. I had to watch it again because of this analysis 😛 and realized that he is being a typical elder bro and he has ALWAYS been indulgent towards his family (Dev and Daadi are an example - remember his wry amusement and yet patience with the palpitations 🤣?)
I think we as audience were taken off guard (and it seemed sudden and OTT) because before Maan's behavior towards his family was somehow merged with his Dusht Danav avatar. We saw the Dusht Danav first and often that's all we saw and NOT the affectionate elder bro. Maan has changed now 😊. Geet changed him. He is more open, laughs more easily etc and that openness combined with his natural behavior as the elder bro made him appear out of character when he wasn't. And lets not forget, he did reprimand her light heartedly for being childish or being melodramatic so he is being indulgent but not spoiling her 😊. So I'm fine with the gifts and the affectionate behavior BUT (yup there is one 😆)
How could we not have Anvesha comment on the changes in him!!!! 😡😡😡 Fine that sorry was more a part of the teasing than an actual apology but there could have been a smart reply on her part, teasing him along the lines of the great MSK is saying sorry etc. Or are we supposed to assume that Anvesha never knew the post-whatever-happened-to-him and pre-falling-in-love-with-Geet Maan? Fine she lived in a hostel or may be MSK tried to hide his dusht danav avatar from her whenever they met but how can you not pick on undercurrents of tension? And if she dotes on Maan the way she is being depicted to then how can she not notice the change in him from smiling to angry and now back to smiling?
IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE 😳! It doesn't make sense for a sister (no matter how ignorant and pampered) to not notice the changes in a brother she seems to adore. And if she is too clueless to notice then why make her indulge in a debate at the beginning of the episode and portray her as a woman with opinions (and therefore one can assume brains? 🤢 [its another matter entirely that she was dumb but that was thanks to the lines being given to her and not her character sketch])
MY POINT IS - Anvesha is a stupid excuse of a character 👎🏼. Very very poorly sketched 😳. You guys better shore up her character SOON 😡! And i hope you are going to reveal her dynamics with Dev? She has several suitcases fillled with Maan's gifts (what was that!😵) is it the same case with Dev or that relation is more strained 😕? CVs , Anvesha can be a very interesting character. Maan-Anvesha, Geet-Anvesha and the Maan-Geet-Anvesha dynamics can make for excellent viewing provided her character is properly shaped.
Now as far as the Geet-Maan-Anvesha-Dadi scene is concerned, well there isn't much to say about it now (scene is still incomplete) except Dadi-Geet-Maan have slipped into a harmonious co-existence. We can see the easy companionship between Maan-Geet, which is a result of being a part of a secure loving relationship. Maan - when he found out that Geet was now at home - had a moment of worry but it was more because of any problems his Geet might have run into when he was away 😳😳😳. However, he is not overly concerned so his confidence in Geet, her abilities and their relationship is evident. First question when he reached home, where is Geet 😳😳😳 and I went aww at his smile when he heard she was in kitchen 😆. Hmm Kitchen ... Is Geet making Maan's favorite chocolate cake 😳? I hope so 😆. Waise, why wasn't Geet surprised when she found out Anvesha is Maan's younger sister? Or are we supposed to assume (ufff) that Maan has told Geet all about his siblings and their questionable parentage 😕? CVs 😡 ugh! Is it too much to ask of you to deliver an episode san inanities 😵.
