With his daughter, Sonam Kapoor, under attack from all sides, actor Anil Kapoor has finally broken his silence. After actor Rishi Kapoor blasted Sonam and actor Deepika Padukone for making unflattering statements about his son, Ranbir, on the TV show Koffee With Karan, Anil says Rishi needs to take it easy. "What's said on that show is to be taken lightly and sportingly," says the actor.
"In 33 years, actors, from Boman (Irani) and Ritesh (Deshmukh) to Saif (Ali Khan) and Shah Rukh (Khan) have made fun of my hair, face and dancing at award shows. I've never retaliated. These young people will hug, make-up and work again soon."
Anil also reacted to Sonam's Aisha co-star, Abhay Deol, criticising the film in the media. "In my career, I've seen many actors speak out at the wrong time and regret their words later. It's better to pick up the phone and talk it out than go to the media. Abhay will be fine and know better in two-three years," he says.
Anil, who stars alongside actor Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 4, is all praise for the Hollywood icon. "You never know where destiny is going to take you," he says. "On the M:I:4 sets, Tom and the director would go to every dancer and junior artiste, before and after pack-up, and every four hours while shooting, to thank them for their patience and for being a part of the film. It's amazing to see such sensitivity!"
