Is there any Tamil filmgoer whose heart has not been touched by the song sequence 'Ovvoru pookkalume' in 'Autograph' or the Telugu version of the track 'Mounamgaane' ('Na Autograph')?

The song for the visually challenged and other disabled featuring Sneha (in Tamil) and Bhoomika (in Telugu) - with the blind lead singer of Chennai-based orchestra Raagapriya M.C. Komagan - continues to dominate the countdown shows on television channels.

And now Komagan is set for a new role that will boost the morale of the disabled even more than the song -- by becoming probably the first visually challenged music director in Tamil cinema.

Director Benjamin has roped in Komagan to compose music for his film 'Mudal Mudalaay' ('For the First Time') starring newcomers Mahesh and Madhu in lead roles.

The highlight of his popular 'Ovvoru pookkalume' sequence is the intervention in the song by Komagan conducting an all-sightless orchestra on a public stage. He bursts into a couple of emotional lines reacting to the audiences' overwhelming response in the film, before removing his dark glasses and wiping off his tears.

Komagan had set a record earlier when he founded Raagapriya, an orchestra with 20 sightless members. The troupe has conducted over 1,500 public concerts.
