totally agree with you, from the flashbacks it looked like she's been raped by someone......BUT atleast she's not!!!
I guess in the beginning they showed her train memories only, because she was on the train so those painful memories were hunting her.
And as far as committing a suicide for her, i think it would be equal to a rape victim because she's been molested by someone, whole city know her as a 'prositude', her would-be-husband didn't show up on the wedding(the person who she got into this trouble), her father lost a job due to this situation, her brother got kicked out of school.....I think she started feeling responsible for all this because even molestation is horrible dream and would leave scars
