I like how they are showing complexity of character in the elderly women of this show. Of course some of it makes me disappointed in the characters.
After the roka, Vimmi gets angry at her daughter and is very harsh, but later realizes her mistake and apologizes. Vimmi who is normally shown as naive and lacking tact still thinks of both Sweety and Mona equally and wants what is best for both, she still wants to do things as they are in her family and with love. On the other hand Sweetys Mom who is shown as sweet and thoughtful is shown as angry and thinking only of her daughter, although she was the one tho was most aware of the anukalp-mona situation. She had perviously defended Mona saying she is naive and knows Vimmi is, yet she is harsh in her own way to them, which really disappointed me, but does show her humanity and complexity.
In Anukalps house there is Bharti who has detested Mona for a long time, but when the family accuses Mona of tricking Anukalp, she says that does not matter as Anukalp is the one at fault. On the other hand there is the Dadi, who like Mona and is more liberal than Bharti but when her own grandson's reputation she is quick to blame Mona, another disappointment in my opiion.
These four women are shown to have complexity, faults and more, but yet in their own way are doing whats right by their loved ones. any comments or thoughts?

Humans are very predictable, in such cases. They would do what is convinient for them, and them only. If things go on, in their favor, they abide by it.. otherwise, they don't! Such is life, and such are the complexities of human characteristics.. sighh..

Actually i like the fact that elderly women r portrayed as strong characters. Even though i dont agree with what they do sometimes, they will protect their family in any way that seems right to them. We have to look at situation from their individual point of view and then see if the reaction is justified. Ps. @topic maker Gr8 post

Great post, I love that fact they're multi-dimensionl, not just black and white. These women are acting like how we would(not exactly) in given situation. You want to protect your own at any cost and that's what Baa is doing no matter how much she likes Mona but her grandson comes first then everybody. Same goes for Amrit, but it didn't go with the way her character was built up. She was the one who understood her family and stood by Vimmi and Mona but not today as her daughter marriage is at stake.

Thanks for liking the post guys. @ kajolj- I agree completely I think amrit's character was suprising, yes human nature is a little selfish and thinks of their own, but her sudden change contrasts her self too drasticaly. But I guess she is not shown as mean yet but just passive aggresive which compliments her charcter well.
