Should Kat Be Nominated for Rajneeti?

Ok before we start to speculate anything...this is just fun a discussion point! So my friend and I were talking about award shows and how he felt that Kat should be nominated for Rajneeti! I obviously had to ask why since there were other performances that were much more powerful and he said that she should be nominated as a sign of encouragement! So she continues on taking good parts and does good acting! She did something that was different from her usually work and she was successful for the most part(sorry, but I don't remember if the reviews were in her favor or not?!) so she should be acknowledged! Winning is a whole different topic, but he feels she should be nominated!!! He's obviously gaga over Kat so he wants her to be nominated, but he made a good point! Should nominations be based on encouragement? I mean there have been nominations in the past that have been based for many reasons except for acting, so why not to encourage someone?

NOTE: This ISN'T a Kat bashing topic...so let's NOT make it one, but it would be interesting to know ppl's criteria on awards and nominations....b/c I always thought everything is performance based and not BO/versatility based, but I guess ppl have more different and different criteria for nominations!!! What you guys think??!!

I think she should be nominated. Rajneeti was a blockbuster and she did rise a level above her acting skills. I do agree with your friend that it would be an encouragement for anyone to do better next time. Also it will give you the motivation that this time I got nominated next time I can get an award if I work more on my acting skills 😃

I honestly don't think so. Simply because the purpose of an award isn't to encourage someone for future performances; it's based on someone's past performance. An actor needs to find it within himself/herself to do good films, good roles and to give good performances. We're not dealing with kids here. We're dealing with full-grown adults who know exactly what they want and should by now, have the drive and motivation to achieve it.

If Katrina really wanted an award, she would have made an effort to do more performance-oriented films. The fact that she hasn't should say enough about how much she wants to be critically acclaimed for her performances or how much she wants to be known as a good actress. That's not her priority and that's fine. She's happy dancing in masala films because it's working for her. She's already gotten box-office success (undeserved in my opinion but let's not go into that). Rajneeti was different, yes. But I, for one, would hardly count that as a role. She said like 5 lines in the film! If these kind of "performances" start being nominated for awards too, what's the point of the other actresses trying to do films like Fashion or Jab We Met or Black or Fiza or Zubeidaa where they have to truly perform throughout a film to get appreciated? Katrina needs to earn a nomination. If other actresses weren't "encouraged', I don't see any reason why she should.

So, in one word, no.

No, because this is an award show. You're supposed to be rewarded on your acting. If mediocre performances start being nominated just because you actually had to do SOME acting, where are the standards?

That way, someone can start off WAYY BELOW average, and be nominated in their second year just coz they mastered one expression. And what about someoen who was good to start off with? THey dont have her popularity, but htey're obviously better than her. But since they're not a mainstream bollywood actress who finally did something differnet after 6 yrs of monotonous roles, you dont even deserve a slot?

I'm sorry but why should Katrina be given such special treatment? Just coz so far she coudnlt do mediocre acting, why is she being placed on a pedestal just for encouragement?

Its cut throat competition. Its sad enough that the so called "actresses" today are such showpieces, it'll be an insult to start nominating mediocre performances just for the sake of encouragement.

if she can get nominated for singh is king then hell yes she should be nominated for rajneeti....but obviously she wouldn't win coz there are far better performances which deserve to win more...

but just out of curiosty...who do u think will get nominated this year???

I can guess ash for guzaarish and/or raavan

Kareena and priyanka didnt really have gr8 performances this year...maybe they might get nominated for G3 and AA respectively...but fat chance of either of them winning...

Koko hasnt done much work this year...

Kajol for WAF or MNIK maybe..

Deepika maybe for LP...but i dunt think she would win....

so if everything goes well...this year might see ash or kajol winning best actor female....interesting....

I don't understand why Kat should be given special treatment when other actors like Kareena and Priyanka have to actually perform WELL to get an award. If Katrina starts getting awards for mediocre performances just for encouragement, is it not unfair to the other actors who actually act really well but are just not as popular as Katrina?

Katrina's role in Rajneeti was minuscule and nothing great IMO. Yes she was better than her previous performances but compared to others in just the film itself, she was nothing special.

Btu of course, considering she got nominated for Singh is King, she will probably get nominated for Rajneeti also.

This year's nomination list for best actress is probably going to be

Ash for Raavan/Guzaarish (I think Guzaarish is more likely)

Kajol for WAF/MNIK (or both maybe?)

Kareena for WAF maybe?

Deepika for LP

Vidya for Ishqiya

well, even if we say she doesn't deserve to be nominated, she will be, coz we don't need to tell that the desi awards are biased at times

so as far as nomination is concerned, i m 200% sure that she will be nominated

but i don't think she will get an award for this one, if she gets an award for this one then awards will lose its credibility coz this is not the performance which can earn her an award, she is more than this, i m sure

i hav a feeling this yr it will be either kajol or ash

No ! altough these awards dun have anymore credibility left , they shud atleast nominate sum1 for sheer acting skills , but i wud be so not surprised if she is nominated :P
