Hi Folks,

I am a graduate student at NYU-Poly, doing research on the representation of women in Indian television, and am currently looking at the occupation of the female characters shown in the Hindi serials.

I would really appreciate it if people on this list could send me a few brief responses with the names of some of the key characters in this show and the occupation they hold (there can be more than one female character fro a single serial) – the kinds of details I am looking for are as follows:

Actress playing the role: Drashti Dhami

Her occupation: A 12th pass girl who amazingly gets a managerial post, is a project coordinator and without any induction training does a swell job !!

Any interesting details about her work : her project gets approved, she is ambitious , once again full of intrigues and coterie politics

Any interesting details about her work : more intent on her love life, confused as to who is her true love rather than caring for her patient ..work env is saccharine sweet with everyone trying to help her decide on her materather than working on the case histories and treatments of the patient's .

Actress playing the role:Juhi Parmar

Her occupation: Lawyer

Any interesting details about her work : she wins the cases with her wit, her charm has an ongoing tussle with hubby which is dealt comically .
