Esha Deol has been sweating it out. With a world tour and Odissi performances in Hong Kong and Singapore coming up, the actress has been rehearsing around the clock.
Says Deol, "It's my first world tour and I'm thrilled about it. I want everything to go well. Hard work pays and that's what I'm doing." Her rigorous rehearsals took a toll last week, when Deol injured her ankle.
While choreographing an act, Esha tripped and hurt her ankle. She was advised rest and had to cancel her act at the Mrs India World pageant. But the actress is back on her toes. "I'm still limping," she says.
"But that cannot affect my preparations. I'm raring to go. As for remedial measures, I'm currently undergoing an ankle massage that reduces the pain." Talking about her strength, she says, "I'm my own biggest strength. But mom and dad are constantly there when I need something."
Dance devotee
Mother Hema Malini and younger sister Ahaana will join her for the Odissi recitals. Adds Deol, "We are performing together. Mornings have been devoted to my rehearsals with my mom and sister. In fact, I have to pull up my socks as mom feels that my postures have to improve. The evenings have been kept for my acts at the world tour."
Titled Rock Stars, the tour will see her performing with Salman Khan, John Abraham, Zayed Khan, Shahid Kapur, Kareena Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat.
Fit foodie
Deol is feeling the strain. "I think I'm getting confused between Odissi and regular Bollywood dances. But I'm doing a lot of cardio exercises these days to look more slim and fit, as I have to live up to the name Rock Stars.
And I'm not depriving myself of food; I'll faint if I do that!" The actor also reveals that dancing is her second profession. "Dancing is a passion.
I'm proud that I have two professions — acting and dancing."
