Nothing exciting so far
A mother-in-law who is like a mother to a daughter-in-law, a new take on a saas-bahu relationship is what Dil Se Diya Vachan promises to be.
Nandini is an orphan who lives with her married sister. Prem, the son of a gynaecologist mother, falls in love with Nandini. Everything seems good till Nandini's sister's mother-in-law (a grouchy one) throws up a fit saying the rishta was for her daughter, Sumati. Interestingly, Prem's parents also approve of Nandini. They are willing to have her as their daughter-in-law but for the old woman who throws temper tantrums to avoid the marriage. Luckily, her son has given his word to Prem's parents that he will let Nandini marry their son.
Whether the show is indeed a positive take on saas-bahu equation is something we will know only in the episodes to come. So far, the proceedings have been mildly engaging. Jayshree T's wicked old woman act is straight out of a 80's Marathi film! Neena Gupta as the career woman and Prem's mother is restrained to the point of being indifferent. Ayub Khan as Nandini's doting brother-in-law is cool and composed, Gaurav Khanna as the goofy Prem doesn't do anything we haven't seen before in his earlier show as a lover-boy on Colors. Vandana Joshi, though very pretty, is still very raw and often gets her expressions wrong. We guess, Dance India Dance girls are just not cut out for acting (another case in point being Binny Sharma in Sanjog Se Bani Sangini).
