Pakistan Day on Thursday:
Pakistan Day will be celebrated throughout the country on Thursday with great zeal and enthusiasm renewing the pledge to make efforts for progress, prosperity and development of the country.
The Day will dawn with thirty one gun salute in the federal capital and twenty one gun salutes at all the provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity of Muslim Ummah and well being of the people after Fajr prayers.
It will be a closed holiday and national flags will be hoisted at all principle public and private building throughout the country. Keeping in view the tragedy of earthquake last October the main event of Pakistan Day Armed Forces Parade will not be held this year to express solidarity with the quake victims.
The annual investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr where President General Pervez Musharraf will decorate civil and military awards to people in recognition for their meritorious services for the nation and the country.
Various social, political, religious, cultural and educational organisations have also chalked out programmes to commemorate the day in a befitting manner. Seminars, symposia and cultural shows will be held in Islamabad-Rawalpindi and other big and small cities of the country to highlight the importance of the day and pay homage to the martyrs of the independence movement.
Radio Pakistan and TV will put out special programmes and the newspapers will bring out special supplements.
A special highlight of the Pakistan Day celebration will be launching of centurion celebrations of Pakistan Muslim League which will be held at Minar-e-Pakistan on Thursday afternoon.
