I've been reading alot of posts about the 'modern woman' on the forum nowadays. some people feel that since ridhima is a woman of the '21st century', she can walk out of her marriage willingly, while others feel that it's not about morality, it's about what's right and what's wrong.
I'll be honest and say that it was actually the AR fans who made me curious about their definition of a 'modern' woman, so before throwing in my 2 cents and making this debate one-sided, I'd like to know what each of you have to say? and this question if for everyone (:

Modernity according to me is.. speaking your god damn mind.. If you love your ex Speak! If you love your husband then also Speak! Don't keep it all to yourself and cry like an idiot holding a photograph.. 😆

For me 'modernity' means making an educated choice, knowing full well what it entails and sticking by it with honesty and determnination. Todays modern women are extremely self-sufficient and decisive. Modernity means that when you are committed to a cause dnt make halfhearted efforts to fulfil it. Go all the way and make yourself and others around you proud. A modern woman has every right to walk out of a marriage if the relationship fails but a modern woman does not ahve the right to play with a man's feelings and emotions or lead him on only to get confused later on. Modernity definitely does not mean supporting and cheering on infidelity or backstabbing.

the defination of modernity or the 21st century woman is to make her own decisions, not be forced into doing anything that they are unhappy with becoz other pple want them to (ridzy isn't an example of a modern woman though, she gave into pressure and married sid over the presentation of those pictures and then she thought sid raped her etc and then her dad told her to marry sid....i would never do what ridzy did in the first place)

Interesting Topic Neetz,

Modern Woman there is nothing of the sort, I mean having an education, more opporunties, having a career, it is all part of the "modern" woman.

But what is a woman? I mean that is a question in itself, I mean is it how you look, you biological make-up, what?

A modern woman - anyways is the independant woman who live life according to their rules right?

I mean but woman are still the ones who get pregnant, go on Mat leave, bring up their kids, I mean how many actually go back to their careers? I mean most I know become full time moms and then start working part time again, flexi- hours.

I mean it all comes down the same basics however much people argue otherwise.

I mean there are at least a 1000 med students every year and out of that most the woman by the time they are 30 are rarely even practicing medicine?

okay then good. and this really isn't about ridhima/armaan/sid, it's a generic, situational question. for example - X is married to Y and takes her 'farz' a bit too far and gets pregnant, but she still loves Z, would you still like X to speak her mind and go back to Z?

Yeah me too would like to know about that 😆

Anyways, for me, there are 4 AGES mentioned in our Puraan.. Satya, Treta, Dwapar Yug and Kali Yug.. It's said that it's a circular process, and once Kali Yug ends, again it will start from Satya..

So now I think people have slowly n gradually accepting all kinda things which go against our Dharma and Karma.. 😊 They 'think' they are going 'modern' but actually it's retrieving backwards 😊 The day will come when people will forget God and the sense of Sin and Blessings and everything.. And forget abt their morals and rules and culture.. and start disobey everything.. That will be called REAL 'modernity' by some people.. where they will do ONLY what they want.. And at THAT age, world will again go back to Satya Yug 😊

So yeah, the more we proceed towards this fake 'modernity' the faster we are making move towards our Vinaash and death.. And hence, going back to our origin.. This is what I would call 'modernity'.. The time when people do whatever they want, in the name of 'love', greed, 'lust' .. and they lose their originality 😃

Sorry for the lecture 🤣 But that's true <3 :P

I thought its about right and wrong and not about being a 21st century women..

I mean if to people modern means getting married twice and right after the second time u walk out..than i never want to meet a modern woman..

I get it that AR fans are happy to get AR back but I dont think using the word "Modern" to defend Riddhima for choosing Armaan is right..

I know there are lots of comments of Riddhima getting courage to leave and all that stuff and they say its guilt that made her stay so where is her guilt now? Even though Sid says go..she should know what love is and how much it hurt her when Armaan left and love is what she felt towards SId before Armaan came back.

To me it is definately about right and wrong because in reality no "modern woman" would marry twice and leave just like that.

My comment is a little biased cuz i am and ArSh / KaSh fan but to me there was no logic in the ending of this show...

And they definately rushed the ending i mean they were better off with Siddhima instead of this rushed AR pairing.

But in short being modern has nothing to do with this show.

Being Modern is moving along with the world but also staying in touch with your values
