Khanak explained that she couldn't talk for long, as Mangal couldn't know she was calling from his mobile....She also explained that if she had not left home, there was alot at stake....But though she wanted Shaan to make his own deciosions, she realised that he may need a little encouragement....Sunil didn't understand, if it was the right thing or Khanak's zidd...She didn't want Shaan to know they had spoken and she didn't want Sunil to do anything drastic.....

' Beta tum bohat bari risk lerahi ho....'

' Kya le rahi ho Adda?...'

' Tum aapne zindagi ke saat khel rahi ho....'

' Mein waada karti hoo Adda, ke ek din mein aapko subkuch sach batawo gi...Par aaj aapko mujhpe bharosa karna hoga...'

' Agar Shaan nahi samjha toh.....'

' Aap sirf unko himmat dejiye...Adda, agar aaj unhone aapni marzee se faisla nahi liya, toh zindagi bhar woh dosoro ki baat sunege....Aapko sirf unko sorch ne par majboor karna hai...'

' Yeh shaadi bohat jalbasi mein horahi hai....I think mujhe Mr Agarwal se baat karni chahiye...'

' Nahi Adda!...'

' Phar kyun?....Agar unhe patta chalega ke tum aur Sha....'

' Adda pleage, aap Agarwal Saab se kuch maat kehna....Baas aap mujh pe barosa kejiye...Aur Shantanu se baat keyiye....Mein phone rakti ho Adda...Baad mein phir karogi....'

' Jeeti raho betta...Aur mein aapni taraf se poori koshish karo gah....'

As he finished his drink, he thought about how Khanak reacted to Mr Agarwal's name....It was not the first time she had shown signs of knowing about Agarwal's nature....Could Khanak behaviour be connected to him in some way?....He had to find out, but first he had to talk his son.....

' Shaan tum sun rahe hoona meri baat?....' Shaan looked at his Dad and thought ' Yeh Dad ko kya huwa...Kal se chup chap teh, suddenly itne hyper kyun horahe hai?...' But as even as he thought this Shaan remembered that, time was running out.....

That morning he and Natasha had their first honest talk in months...He told her about all his doubts and confusion...How he didn't want to hurt her, but he loved Khanak...She visibly flinched when he had said this....But she took it very graciously and told him that she had seen the signs and how surpised she had been when he proposed.....They both agreed that if they got married neither of them would be happy....But when Shaan wanted to speak to Mr Agarwal, Natasha told him she would be the best person to do that ....She explained due to his recent heart-attack, any anger towards Shantanu, would prehaps have an adverse affect on her father's health.....Shaan insisted he wanted to take full responsibility, for everything he had done....But he gave in, when she said it was the last thing she wanted from him....He couldn't say no after that, she deserved to have the last word on the matter....She had told him to continue as if the wedding would take place and not tell anyone of their decision yet....

Now standing infront of his father Shaan felt trapped....He asked himself why he was such a...a...' Burthal....' The thought made him this of Khanak instantly....His smile irritated Sunil even more....

' Dad relax, mujhe patta hai mein kya kar raha hoon....' Shaan replied thinking, ' Par Natasha kya kar rahi hai...Phone bhi nahi uttah rahi...Abhi tak usne Uncle se baat ki, ke nahi?....'

' Shaan mein jaanta ho ke tum aapni feelings ko lekar confused ho, par ek bar aapne dill se poocho...Kya yeh faisla tumhare liye sahi hai?...And remember my son....Mein hamesha tumhare saat ho, tum jo bhi decision loge...Yaad rakna, agar tum khud kush nahi ho iss rishte se, toh phir Natasha ko kaise kush rak pawoge?... '

' Dad woh urr...Meri Natasha se aaj subha baat hui thi aur.....' Before he could continue, Shaan was interupted by Akshay....

' Dad, Shaan....Mom aur Dadi neeche wait karahe hai....Jaane ka waqt hochoka hai....'

' Ek minute Akshay, Shaan kuch kehraha tah....' Sunil turned to Shaan expectently, ' Haan to tum kya batana chahte teh beta?....'

' Kuch nahi Dad...Der horahi hai....Chaale? ' Shaan made his way out of the room leaving Sunil bewildered ....

Akshay looked at him....' Dad aap teek hai?...'

' No, I need another drink...'

Natasha sat in front of the mirror in full bridle wear, as Kushbu informed her, the Khandewal's had arrived....Then she gushed about how dark her mehdhi was, considering it had only been on for a few hours....Natasha heard the words, love, mother-in-law and pattii....But she wasn't really paying attention...She was thinking back to the talk with Shaan that morning....The dark colour on her hands was not because of love, maybe nerves or another stronger emotion...But certainly not love...

As Kushbu lead her down the stairs, she focused her eyes on Shaan...He watched her coming towards him his eyes widened with surprise and for a second his face drained of colour....' Good, ' thought Natasha. ' Shaan ne kabhi ye expect nahi kiya hoga....' But then he soon regained himself, by the time they were face to face and Kushbu handed them the garlands...

' Tashu?...Bhool gayi, pehle tumhari bari hai?....'

' Nahi Di mein nahi bhooli....' Shaan recognised an unmistakable coldness in Natasha's voice, as she put the flowers around his neck.....

' Tumhe kya laga, ke sub kuch itna asaan hoga?...' He kicked himself mentally....' Akir woh bhi insaan hai....No yeh mein kya soch raha hoon....Natasha ne ek akiri cheez mangi hai mujhse....Mujhe uspe barosa karna chahiye....' Thinking this Shaan remembered the tarot reader saying, how he never trusted people....Maybe he had to start sometime....He had to trust his love for Khanak too....One thing was certain, he was not getting married....

' Shaan?...' Natasha broke through his train of thought....She looked at the garland in his hand and the up at his face....He resolved to go along at this point and raised his hands, only for Natasha to stop him midway....Exactly the same way he had once stopped her, when he had bought Khanak home....She then shocked everyone by giving Shaan a hard slap across on cheek....

Natasha had done what she promised, she refused to marry Shaan....He was impressed....She made it seem as if she had only agreed to her Dad's wishes....But that she couldn't forgive Shaan....It was difficult for him to understand why Natasha was trying to take this on herself....Especiaaly because it was making him look weak.....She even called him that....But he stayed quiet and let her humiliate him...His ego was battered, but he accepted it as payback for the way he handled things with Natasha....They both knew the truth....Natasha needed to do this to move on.....In the end he had apolgised to her and left....Shaan had returned home and as he headed for his room Sunil's mobile started to ring....He had left it at the bar counter and Shaan went to answer it.....A furmiliar number flashed on the screen....Shaan pressed the talk button quickly...

' Hello Adda?....Adda aap sun rahe henah?....' Shaan couldn't speak...' Adda, aap kuch bolteh kyun nahi?...Mere paas zada waqt nahi....Shantanu ka kya nernai tah?...Kya unhone shaa.....Shaadi....?.' He could tell Khanak was trying her best to control her emotions...

Shaan found his voice and answered....' Khanak, shaadi nahi huwi.....' For a minute Shaan thought the phone had cut off....But he could hear Khanak's breathing and he could tell she was crying....' Hud hai yar, tum mujhe chor kar jaati ho, par shaadi ki kabar rakti ho...Ek bar bhi mere bare mein nahi socha....Aab ro kyun rahi ho?...Mere saat rehna pare ga isliye?....'

' Mein kaha ro raho....Aur aapko kya lagata hai, ke mein aapni marsi se gayi thi?....'

' Paata nahi Khanak....Tum kabhi baata kar nahi baag thi nah...' Shaan quipped...

' Aap ko khud samjh na chahiye....Burthal....' by now she didn't even hide her sniffling and Shaan wished he was there to wipe her tears.....

' Kamal hai ek toh mein yaha kitna parishaan ho, aur upar se tum....Urgrrh...God Khanak tum mujhe pagal kar ke chorogi...Infact kar choki ho.....'

' Waise aap itne bore nahi....Kamse kam der hi sahi, par aapne sahi faisla liya....'

' Aur agar mein waqt pe nahi samjh tah toh?...'

' Mujhe aap par barosa tha....Aur aapne pyaar par. ' Khanak told Shaan....

' Rrriiite!...Is liye tum mere saat sub share karti ho nah ?....' Shaan retorted...

' Meine kaha nah, sub baate batayi nahi jaati Shantanu....Aapko bhi mujh pe barosa karana hoga....'

' Barosa?....Aur tumpe?....Ek number ki joothi ho tum...Ek bar ghar wapas awoh, phir dekna mein kya karta ho....'

' Aur nah aayi toh?...'

' Kaise nahi awogi?....Sub ke saam ne zabardasti untah kar legawo gah....Tum meri pattni ho aur tumhe yaha mere saat hona chahiye....' In a softer voice he added, ' Mein aaraha ho Khanak mere intazaar karna....'

' Par aap kisi ko yeh maat batayieh gah ke aap mujh lene anewale hai....Mein phone rakti ho...'

' Khanak ye tum?....Okay, barosa right?....Tum baad mein sub batawogi.... '

' Mera wadah hai aapse, buss sub kuch teek hogaye, uske baad aapko sikayaat ka morka nahi do gi....Teek hai?'

' Aur koi choice hai mere paas?....'

' Nahi!....Acha phone rakti ho...'

' Khanak I lo.......' Shaan began, but Khanak had put the phone down...Shaan smiled to himself and went to his room to pack......

I wrote this over the weekend but, I was not happy with the dialogues or story at all...Finally finished it and thought I should post it and let you judge if this last part of the ' Shaadi ' one-shot.....

Shaan is soo cutee..

Found it hard to get this last part right....I wasn't sure if I got ShaNak to sound right, or if it was the way they would react.....But it's done now.....
