Part 1
Jyoti returns to the press conference and interrupts it. She begs Kabir & RP to come, as she has something important to tell them. RP is hesitant, but Kabir persuades him to obey Jyoti. At home, Jyoti tells them about her fears, but RP tells her that there is always some threat or the other, and if they feared all that, they just couldn't go outdoors. Kabir agrees w/ him and tells her that they had already promised the crowd that they would appear. RP thinks this woman (didn't mention which) is after his seat, and there is nothing to stop her. Chachi-sa says that there is plenty of security there to cover them, while thinking that Kabir has to go for her plan to work. After all, his seat is rightfully Vikrant's. Vikrant tells them not to worry, and that he'd inspect the security preparations. Jyoti looks @ him suspiciously, while Reshmi sees all this from behind the screen.
Vikrant enters his room, and Reshmi tells him that she knows that he won't listen to Jyoti and that he too would go, so she asks him to wear an amulet that she has, that would protect him. Vikrant tells her that the biggest threat to his life is she. Had someone tied that to him b4 he ever met her... Reshmi tells him that he was never like that, and that in college, he used to love her. (I thought Reshmi was an orphan from nowhere - she actually attended the same college as Vikrant? 😲) If he didn't meet her even 1 day, he'd worry... and now, he doesn't even want to see her? Vikrant denies that, and Reshmi tells him to hate her all he wants, but to tie that amulet, and goes ahead & ties it. However, Vikrant takes it off, drops it on the floor, and leaves the room.
Elsewhere, Asha is sitting, thinking about what Sumer said about divorcing her. Jyoti arrives, and Asha tells her that she's made a decision. Jyoti asks her what it is, and she says she'll apologize to Sumer. She knows that he may be destroyed, but he'd never reform. If she apologizes, he will stop talking repeatedly about divorce. Jyoti smiles @ her and tells her to go ahead, and then asks her whether she thinks that will change his mind? Asha tells her she's an ordinary woman, and that unlike Jyoti, she doesn't have a maayka to support her, nor is she educated like Jyoti, and that w/o her marriage, she'd just die. She isn't interested in the meaning of marriage - she's just interested in saving it at all costs. If she apologizes to him, he'd accept her. Jyoti asks her - and what then? Asha tells her that she'll continue to live like she always has.
Jyoti tells her that she doesn't want to distance her from her husband - she just wants him to realize his faults. If she apologizes, he'll think he can simply resume his old ways. He won't go to a doctor, so he'll just call her barren, then initiate a divorce and marry again. Like he did w/ his previous wives. As it is, she has 15 days to contest. She asks Asha to believe in herself. After that, if she's not convinced, she can apologize, and Jyoti will not stop her. Asha is convinced, and tells her that apologies will not resolve anything, and they need to fight. As it is, in the end, they'll die, so why not die fighting - at least there is some possibility of winning. They hug.
Part 2
Jyoti is standing on the balcony, thinking about the cameraman and everything else she saw that day. Kabir joins her, and covers her eyes, and Jyoti asks him what's he up to? He says he's surprising her, and not to open it until he tells her. He then gives her a large envelope, and asks her to open it. Jyoti asks - the eyes? and he says no, the package. Jyoti opens it and it's a wedding portrait of the 2 of them. ❤️ Jyoti looks @ him lovingly, and they have a romantic moment.
Inside the room, Jyoti picks a spot on the wall where she wants it, and Kabir starts hammering a nail in, but pretends to hammer his finger & hurt himself. Jyoti is concerned, but he grabs her up the chair & hugs her. ❤️ He then gets the nail in and hangs the picture, and they have some romantic moments. However, as they are having such a moment, Jyoti's mangal sutra accidentally comes off and falls to the ground. Jyoti is a bit alarmed, but picks it up. She then tells Kabir that it's a bad omen, and Kabir berates her for thinking like that. She begs him not to go, and he asks her whether she wants him to be called a coward. He then takes the mangal sutra from her, puts it around her neck and re-attaches it.
Part 3
That night, Jyoti is asleep, and feels Kabir's spot, but he ain't there. She gets up, and sees blood stains on the floor. She gets alarmed, gets up and follows the blood trail, and sees him bandaging his foot. She runs up to him & cries. Kabir asks her what's wrong? She asks her about it, and he tells her that while hanging the picture, a nail may have fallen, and so when he got up, he accidentally stepped on it 😵 It'll be fine in a day or 2. She scolds him for not waking her, so he hugs her.
Next morning, Jyoti does a varan for Raghu, Kabir & Vikrant, but while doing it for Kabir, the diya goes off. Jyoti again tries to beg RP & Kabir not to go, but Kabir tells her that she's educated, so how can she be so superstitious? He tells her her mind is fixated on the gunman, that's all. She asks if she can come w/ him? RP tells her that she can do nothing there, and that fear is the mind's enemy. Besides, they have the blessings of the goddess.
They leave, and Jyoti goes to the sanctum and prays for her family to be protected. Just then, a servant gives her a courier package, w/ no name. She opens it and sees a garlanded portrait of Kabir. The episode ends on her shocked face.
Comments
A good episode. The second segment was full of romance, while Jyoti did a valiant job in trying to get Kabir not to go. However, by itself, she reacting superstitiously to the various apshakuns - the mangal sutra falling, the diya going off, et al, didn't reflect too well on her - as Kabir said, she's educated enough not to believe in these.
I liked the part where Jyoti managed to convince Asha that apologizing would only delay the inevitable. Asha resolving to go down fighting was a highlight of the episode. Also, I think the diya going out might be indicative of something going wrong not for Kabir, but Vikrant, who tossed Reshmi's talisman on the floor. It would be funny if something happened to him, and it took Reshmi to save him.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
