While I was watching the Basanth and Gehna scenes yesterday, I wondered why Basanth never mentions his first wife. It is not even shown as if he misses her. They were after all married for years. Isn't that a bit odd?

hmm... quite a point there... but considering the way they treat their beendnis, doesnt seem like they think of a wife as anything more than an machine to do everything you need... basant used to be in tht category of the typical chauvinists before gehna came in and made him realize the importance of mutual respect and understanding... may be thats why he hardly remembers anything of the first wife. he missed her lots before his second wedding... and tht sounds more like "raat ko dhak ke ghar aaya to ek chaa (chai) pilane keliye bhi koi nahi rehta" sorta thing rather than missing the companionship... somehow, thts how it made me feel.. no offence meant
