It is not exclusively an Indian problem but a global epidemic.

My mum's cousin had an arranged marriage which ended up being abusive where she was a victim of domestic violence. She left him and remarried again. This time it was a love marriage to a white american guy. He too turned out to be physically abusive towards her. In the end she left him too. Twice married and twice abused by ppl of different culture and background.

I dont think it has anything to do with where you are but depends on the individual

Its a chronic disease, seldom curable, because the Kesar kind of women exists, Not all but some NRIs would like to keep the Sajjan Singh and Shakti Singh tradition alive, no matter where they reside. Its our age old tradition any resistance to stop it will be considered as self centered and IDEALISTIC foolishness. 😒

This is a male-dominated world where physical strength rules😡 ... women have acheieved much more than men, but unfortunately men think by beating and abusing badly, they can keep a woman under control..it is really sad, but this happens everywhere whether educated or uneducated, rich or poor.🤢

Cant make a sweeping generalisation like that....
The point has already been validly made and I support that contention - that men beating, indeed abusing women in any shape or form, is usually as a result of their own insecurity or obsessive need to control and dominate women who they perceive are physically weaker.
In my opinion women are actually mentally far more robust and in possession of so much internal strength - its just that some poor women dont know it and have to reach rock bottom before they can tap into it.
What I do know however is a woman can deal with anything, including violent men. as long as she has the backing and empathy of other women. So Pratigya - you go girl!
However it is also my opinion that in our Asian cultures, marginalised women will seldom if ever ever get the support of other women because it is actually other women who propagate those stupid ideas and do not face up or believe men should ever be challenged - for them there just arent any Pratigyas around. In these cases, women are actually a woman's worst enemy.
This is actually portrayed exactly when you look at the dynamics of Pratigya and Amma - Amma is all about control and domination but is also a bully because she is bullied - it's classic!
What serials like this are hopefully going to help with is encourage the "Kesars" of this world become more of a "Pratigya" to rise up and kick the asses of all the bloody Ammas out there!
end of my badh-badh!
Peace and power to all my sisters out there!👍🏼

This a universal problem. But unfortunately in our community the wifes are expected to put up with it. The mentality in many Asian and African communities is that it is alright for a man to beat his wife. I live in American and when of my cousins decided to leave her abusive husband many of my family members were very upset with her.

Well said, It dose and It is systematic, Various reasons, some of them you have already listed above, Until discrimination against women stops THE discrimination merely on the basis that that they are women, that they are physically weak though I think otherwise, That they are inferior to men and deserve such a treatment and not necessarily limited to husbands only but fathers, brothers etc, do indulge in such atrocities, I differ in this aspects the last line u wrote." everywherewhether educated or uneducated, rich or poor" while I agree it happens the way you have said it, but the ratio of such treatment is much much higher in uneducated segment of society to the point that it is common place in poor and uneducated segment of the society. Whereas in the case of rich and educated families or husbands it is very low, there women are abused for various other reasons as well then for the mere fact that they are women. 😕

Among the uneducated beating is done openly and often without care or worry about who knows about it. The educated play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There is often a public persona and then the nasty side comes behind closed doors. The problem is often the perception of the abuser of life and unable to process and deal with things. These patterns are established very early in life under the age of 5 really, when children have not been given a healthy emotional feedback growing up. Emotional responses received go into the permanent memory banks in our brain. In many cases this abusive behavior is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. It takes effort, insight and maybe some prof. help to overcome this behavior in some rare cases. Very often the abuser was once abused him or herself. Though not as common, there are instances when the women trash the men too. What they need is help.
