Pratigya is all tense and upset. She knew Krishna would feel bad that he couldn't take her for ice cream, then he would tell her off for going with his mother. But what can she do, after all this was her sasuma.
Silently both women made for outside and then onto the car. At the temple, Pratigy bowed her head and prayed for Krishna's wellbing and health, both mental and physical. She prayed for him to constantly smile and laugh, never for pain to enter his eyes. The krishna of last night lingered on her mind and she knew that come whatever may, she will ensure that he never had any cause for pain.
Afterwards, both women made for the car. Pratigy stopped seeing Krishna. He looked so handsome, wearing khaki shirt - the one he wore to stop her bus, even then she secretly thought he was very good looking but off course in front of Papa she had to pretend she really disliked him.
"Partigya." He called seeing her. His mother was invisible to him. "Come, the ice cream shop will close before we get there."
"Ha, off course. Allahabad will run out of ice cream before maharani gets there!" Amma threw the bitter words before going to the car angrily, her nostrils flaring.
"Krishna, tum bhi na", Pratigya hurried to him and took her seat behind him. She slid her arms around his waist and held on securely as he started the bike. 'Why do you want to rile, Amma?"
Krishna turned, putting his helmet on and stared deeply into her eyes. Time stood still and it was just the two of them. Then his hands moved and time started again. Warmth flowed between their bodies.
"Partigya, I am taking you to a park. When we get there, I want you to kiss me!" Krishna stated firmly, starting his bike with a roar. "Just like in the films."
