Elimination of Mumbai's 'Indian idol' contestant figures in Assembly

MUMBAI: The elimination of Amey Date, the contestant in popular reality show 'Indian idol', figured in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly with a BJP member seeking government intervention in stopping the SMS ''racket'' during voting.

Devendra Phadanvis (BJP) charged that date has been eliminated just because he happens to be Marathi-speaking.

''There seems to be a feeling that the earlier winner was a Marathi and if another Maharashtrian wins again, the show would lose its following in other parts of the country,'' he claimed.

He said there was a lot of resentment on this development in Mumbai adding the government should step in to stop the SMS ''racket'' involved in the voting process.

Last time Abhijeet became the Indian Idol who is from Maharashtra. Might be this time they dont want a person from Maharashtra to become the Indian Idol again.

its not a matter of marathi or gujarati or telugu.. the best has to win!! amey date & karunya were the BEST!! so they should have been in top 2!! whoever wins from there doesnt matter... amey date's exit is a huge loss to II2.. many have lost interest in the show... BUT AMEY is a HERO and HE DOESNT HAVE TO PROVE THAT... Now lets accept THE LOSS just as he himself has accepted.. the loss would have been most painful for him obviously.. ALL the hardwork and talent.... being defeated by a person who doesnt deserve to be top 4.. NO MATTER WHAT AMEY WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!!!!!!!

u r rit... bt mght b sony TV is nt thinking along the same line...4 their shows publicity, popularity and success they defnitely need people frm different places of India to become the indian idol...otherwise we cannot call it Indian Idol..it will be Maharashtra Idol...which is a very sad state of affair...

No,sony channel is not included in this all.people y arent you accepting that amey is out because his fans WERE CARELESS compared to anuj's karunya's or sandeep's
