Babi, what kind of mother are you?

Ok, today, I was touched by Naku and Babi's talk, let that be said. Babi loves Naku so much.

But I have a real problem with Babi's message. Of course, she put it differently and sweetly and in a culturally and religiously correct way, but it essentially is:

Don't worry about the truth OR your responsibility for telling the truth OR for taking any responsibility or right actions, just trust Bappa. He'll make it all better.

I respect Babi for her faithfulness, devotion to Naku and God, but give me a break. Don't throw chappals or verbal torpedos at me for this: but Babi is horrid at guiding her daughter AT TIMES. Parents all make misjudgments at times; they are human just as we are. So there is nothing new there.

Sometimes, Babi's advice is so badly devised. She wants to comfort, support her daughter, I totally understand that. But to sit there and say, just trust God. Keep doing what you are doing, no problem! God will make it all better.

It's hardly mother-of-the-year advice. Am I interpreting the jist of the message wrong? I understand her good intentions behind it, but isn't it irresponsible?

lol i agree...thts like sayin do everything wrong n trust God to make it better for u...which is stupid... God has given us a brain and sense 2 think thru situations n circumstances n thn make correct decisions... but she seems 2 b the person who tries blaming everything on God or destiny which 2 sum extent is wrong...
i.e. her putting black make up on naku becoz she's beautiful..she wnts 2 hide tht truth from the world...but wudnt it hav been a better thing to stand up 2 the truth than hide it... there r many beautiful ppl in the world, n ppl do try tkin advantage, but theres sumthing called "self defense n standing up for ur own self..." naku is a sherni in many cases, she shud shw the same enthusiasm wen it comes 2 protecting herself...bt wen the time does come she sits in a corner screaming..lol....

even i did a double take after babi spoke, her main message seemed to come to me as 'don't say anything and things will just resolve themselves.' i mean, really?? bad move, if the articles abtthe revelation and wedding hadn't been posted i would have thought babi's words were foreshadowing dutta in full blown anger mode following the revlation

It's like Duryodhan's mom saying "go for it", you don't need to take the right actions, God will guide you (remind you 😆). Well, yes, that's true, but ermmm, it wasn't quite where she probably meant.

My example is clearly a stretch, but I think it is valid. Let's take the Ramayan, which LTL so quickly incorporated into their
track. So Raavan really doesn't need to take the right actions, he can do what he wants. God will decide what will happen.

It's completely nonsensical. But that is Babi in some ways. So I should not be too surprised. I'm sorry, it's not meant as an insult, but an observation.

I know this is very harsh--but Babi just infuriates me with her stupidity sometimes. Like today. I know you guys will disagree, but I am waiting for the day, post-wedding, when Babi and Ganpat move on out...or become more scarce.

I get your point about Babi and actually I used to empathise with Babi quite a lot in the beginning when they portrayed her helplessness when she lost her elder daugther Roopa to the vices of easy money. Initially, they showed Babi as someone who tried her level best to instil strong morals and values in her children. Always guiding them to make the right choices -- the clear message being the end does not justify the means. However, lately with this colour revelation thing she is being fickle. She herself was ready to unveil her when she thought it would get the family to accept her - that time Naku's reasoning won out. Now when Naku is contemplating being truthful and acknowledging that it is wrong to keep lying, Babi should be the first one to act. She should be doing the honours of removing that make-up and presenting her to Dutta with a full explanation.

More often than not Naku is more mature and wise than Babi. Babi in her attempt to console her daughter ends up creating a fool's paradise for her. In spite of this Naku knows Dutta better than Babi so she ought to make the judgement for herself, trust her instincts (the one screaming she needs to tell him) and be brave enough to bear the consequences. I know Naku is only human and she is greatly attached to Dutta, she loves him so deeply etc, but still in the name of her selfless love, he deserves her honesty.
