Character Complexes(For the Confused)

So, considering I'm planning to study psychaitry in the future, I might as well as analyse the wacky characters we have come to love, hate and feel cannibalistic instincts for within a span of a few months.

Gopi-Doormat Complex
Like telly-addict said in one of the threads, Gopi having lost her parents has yearned for love her entire life. So the moment she realised she was getting married to the handsome, rich, and well-educated Aham Modi, she immediately started crafting dreams. Hey, some girls are romantic. So she is so desperate to win his love that she doesn't mind waiting. And who wants to go back to that Maami anyway? Rashi is ten times better than her evil mother.

Ahem-Superiority Complex

Wah, RS ne kya jodi banaayi hain. Wife is doormat, husband is dominant. Yeh sab to kudrat ka khel hai, you know, laws of fate and everything. Ahem keeps comparing Gopi to Anita without meaning to-Anita was rich, well-educated, fluent in English and wore the most fashionable clothes in the few episodes where she made her appearance. Whereas Gopi is uneducated, from a middle class family, can answer only in 'yes' and 'no' and 'meine cooker mein channe daale the', and prefers wearing traditional bahu clothes. So like every other egoistic man, Ahem degrades her.

Koki-Super Superiority Complex.
[BRActually, on the request of a member, I've decided to put in an analysis anyway. As many say, she is a bit too complex to figure out whether she's negative, positive, has grey shades or neither. It is true that she lavishes a lot of importance on Gopi, but it might be more due to a wish to outdo Hetal and Rashi jodi when it comes to the saas bahu that rules the house and less due to Gopi's responsible and sweet nature. I like the fact that she encourages Gopi to be brave, but i don't like the fact that she always take Ahem's side. She likes having people hanging onto her pallu for her dear life, which is why i call it a super superiority complex..

Kinjal-Revenge Complex

There is no such thing as a revenge complex, but what else I can I say? She's after Gopi and Rashi-not because they destroyed her brother's happiness, but because it destroyed HER love life. Dude, if you are desperate for someone who dumps you so quickly, then you might become like Gopi too, if you manage to get together with that Umang fellow. As for the empty jewellery box, at least don't stoop to hiding stuff from your mother. Boyfriends ki baat har koi apne maa se chupaati hai( 😆 ) par khandaani haar ka to izzat kar.

Hetal/Baa/Jigar-Sugary Sweet Complex

They think everyone is nice and that you should continue loving someone no matter how many mistakes they make. Which is a benevolent idea, but at least don't be so bholi and bhala people in life!!!

Urmila/Rashi-Stepmother/Stepsister Complex

I guess in today's world people care so much about money that Urmila couldn't bear the effort of raising her sister-in-law's kid. No wonder Rashi has no family values. So they both treated her like a servant, not even having the decency of actually teaching her how to read and write, forget send her to school. Rashi's not at fault-she was never given the corrrect sanskaar by Urmila, and even if her father tried to do so, Rashi had already inherited her mother's malicious disposition by then.

Loved the analysis! Talk about a dysfunctional family! These people are nuts! You've hit the nail on the head. It's like watching a train wreck everyday and not being able to do anything about it.

Do put in an analysis of Koki's character because she is actually the most complex and realistic of all. Everyone has one such person in the family, someone who is harsh but who is actually right and good at heart. So we can all relate to Koki. And imagine if we are perfectionists but get saddled with a bahu like Gopi who keeps on doing stupid things like trying tog et kicked out of the house, and taking Rashi's mistake on herself, when she should actually be trying her best to make a good impression, I for one would explode or go bonkers.
