Frankly speaking, there are no similarities but only the difference that we share. Sanaya is all together different then Gunjan in behavior, in nature, likes and dislikes everything. Sanaya only share one thing in common with Gunjan and that is the face. Otherwise we are nowhere similar. Sanaya is happy go lucky kind of a person and not at all like to cry like Gunjan. Sanaya is not scared about anything while Gunjan is a heavy character. How did you get into this industry? Actually I was busy modeling for long time and then I got tired of modeling. I was thinking that if not modeling then what. Then the idea of pursuing a career in acting came to my mind. Initially I had faced many problems. I was not getting any offers because neither did I attend any acting schools nor had acting background. On top of that I was very poor in Hindi. But then, somehow I tried and got my first show 'Left Right Left' after which I gained a kind of confidence that helped me to move ahead. As you said that you were poor with you language, why? I studied in the boarding school at Ooty and there Hindi was not given much preference. The school offered either Tamil, Telugu or Malyayam as second language, which was definitely not my cup of tea. I took French as my second language. We were taught Hindi as a very basic language, so that we can understand it and ansewer to questions like 'what is your name?', 'what is you fathers-mothers name?'etc. But after I got selected for 'Left Right Left', I practiced a lot. Sometimes I used to feel pity for my co-actors that they have to work with such a dumb actress who don't know how to deliver her dialogue in Hindi. But slowly and gradually I got used to the language and now I can speak Hindi confidently. When did you decide that you should essay a lead role in a particular show? Initially I never thought of taking up a lead role because I was not confident enough for essaying a lead role. I was not that experienced, did not have good diction, my pronunciation was pathetic. But as I started learning the language and also got experience in acting, I gradually decided not to do any simple roles and stared preferring only lead roles. I chose MJHT for me. What is your stance on your role in MJHT which is not a Saas Bahu Saga? I accepted the role because I was told that the show is for youth but after I got my character it was no less than any Saas-Bahu style. I have to cry on all small things and thus even after I had worked in a youth-based show, I have experienced everything that actors in a daily soap of Saas-Bahu experience. MJHT is my baby as the show is amazing with good concept, good director and I think it should do better than what it is doing at present. Tell us something about your movie experience! Frankly I was not going to do the movie Fanaa and had refused the production people twice as I didn't want to do small roles in the movie. After sometime someone from the production called me up again and requested me to appear for the audition. That person perhaps didn't know that I had refused the offer twice. He also informed that Kajol and Aamir Khan are doing the movie. Listening to that one thing I was thrilled because Aamir and Kajol are my favorite actors. I also thought when Kajol and Aamir are coming together it must be a great thing. I accepted the offer just for them. Which kind of role you would like to essay now? I would love to do comedy, enough of said Gunjan now. Nupur was full of life and happy always, I would like to do something like that. Some more lighter character now. As rumors are in the air that you are seeing your co-actor Mohit, so is it true? Are you seeing someone? Hmm... No comments (laughs). Any future plans for your career in acting? I don't have any plans. I have just planned my picnic when MJHT wraps up. Any plans to get married? As I said, I don't plan. Even this is not planned by me. Surely, I will get married at some point of time and will also have two children. The time and date are not yet known. --Tejashree Bhopatkar / Tellycafe.com |
