Part 24 - Delhi's Elite Get Together
Three Khuranas were riding in the limo, but only two were talking. Geet was still miffed at Maan for commenting on her wearing saree. She was doing her best to ignore him, and spent the entire time talking with Savitri. Maan was amused by her obvious neglect of him. Her behavior only allowed him to stare as much as he wished without being caught.
Her hair was what fascinated him the most. He had never seen her wear it in anything but a braid, except for the day they married. He was also aware that it was naturally curly, but today it had been straightened. Whatever those stylists had done to it, it seemed to have an extra shine and softness that captivated his attention. If his dadi was not in the limo with them, he would have spent the entire ride just running his fingers through her hair, regardless of what Geet's reaction would be. As it was, he had a hard time controlling himself. Before he even new what was happening, they had arrived at Rajkumarji's Delhi residence.
Maan got out first and helped Savitri out of the limo. He then extended his had to help Geet, but she was still angry with him, and got out without taking his assistance. Once out of the limo, Geet looked around, shocked. Rajkumarji's mansion was bigger even than Khurana mansion, surround by extensive lawns and gardens. To Geet, it seemed as if there were thousands of glittering people descending on the party, and it overwhelmed her. In her nervousness, she grabbed tightly onto Maan's arm, and looked up at him in distress. Maan returned the look, patted her hand reassuringly, and indicated that they should go inside.
As they went inside, Geet thought to herself that she had no idea how many people would be at this party. None of them were familiar to her, but they all seemed to know Savitri and Maan. Giving only the briefest of acknowledgements, the three continued on towards a distinguished, older couple, that Geet realized were Ram and Devya Nihal Singh. It was time for them to meet Geet, and she hoped that she would do nothing that would embarrass Maan.
When they got close, Rajkumarji saw them and exclaimed, "Didi! We were wondering when you would come." He came over and hugged Savitri, and then his wife did the same. At the conclusion of their embrace, Rajkumarji looked over at Maan and his wife, only to see how nervous she was looking. He lost no time in trying to put her at ease.
Moving toward them, he said, "So this must be the young lady I've heard so many good things about." Geet blushed, hearing this. "Welcome to your second home, Bahu."
Geet folded her hands and said quietly, "Namaste, Rajkumarji."
"Oh, now! None of that my dear. You are family now. Devya and I are your mamu and mami, just as much as we are Maan's."
Geet smiled and tried to touch his feet, but Ram wouldn't have it. "Daughters don't bow in this family," he declared as he gave her his blessing.
Devya smiled at her husband's behavior with Geet, but knowing him, she thought it best to rescue Geet. Her husband could be a very intimidating person, even when he wasn't trying to be. She suggested that Geet accompanying Savitri and her, so that she could be introduced to some of their friends. Ram agreed, and said that even he and Maan would do the same together. Geet was worried to be leaving Maan's side, but he promised her that he would come find her later.
Devya and Savitri slowly began introducing Geet to their friends and acquaintances, careful to make sure that she only met a few people at a time. This helped Geet loose her nervousness, which allowed her innocent and bubbly nature to shine through and captivate all those who met her. Many times they congratulated Savitri on finally seeing her grandson married, and that to such a sweet girl.
While Geet was being shown around by Devya and Savitri, Maan had been busy for the last half hour greeting guests with his mamu. It was something that he really didn't have the temperament for, and he was becoming anxious to get back to Geet's side. He had seen her once or twice, and each time she was unconsciously rubbing her stomach. He had discovered that she would do that whenever she had a craving, but he knew that she would be too polite to say anything.
When he was finally able to get away, who did he run into, but Mr. Chopra. He really didn't want to spend time with him, but as he was a new client, Maan felt he had no choice. Mr. Chopra was excited to meet him, as there was someone he wanted to introduce.
"Mr. Khurana, let me introduce you to my chief. Mr. Rahul, my company's CEO."
Maan held out his hand toward Rahul, but he was busy checking out some random young woman walking past them. Maan said his name and emphasized his outstretched hand, which Rahul finally took, saying back, "Mr. Khurana."
Now that the introductions had been made between Maan and Rahul, Mr. Chopra was anxious to introduce Geet also. Mr. Chopra questioned Maan on his wife's whereabouts, and Maan informed him that she was off meeting some of his grandmother's friends. Mr. Chopra was disappointed, but hopeful that they would meet later. He then began extolling Mrs. Khurana's virtues to Rahul, and how wonderful it was that she would be personally overseeing their project with Khurana Constructions. Rahul was looking forward to working with Mrs. Khurana, while Maan was busy thinking that he didn't want this Rahul anywhere near his Geet.
Geet was also wishing to find Maan. She graciously excused herself and starting walking through the throng of people. As she was looking for him she ran into Mr. Sharma. Mr. Sharma was surprised to see her.
"Miss Geet, what a pleasure. It's been awhile since we last saw each other."
"Actually, Mr. Sharma it's Mrs....." Geet wasn't able to finish as she was interrupted by someone who was approaching them.
"Mrs. Khurana!" exclaimed Mr. Chopra excitedly, as he walked up and shook her hand. "I was just asking your husband where you were. Anyway, I would like you to make the acquaintance of Mr. Rahul. He is the CEO of my company."
"Mrs. Khurana," said Rahul as he extended his hand, while he looked her up and down. "I've heard a lot about you, but none of it did you justice. I had no idea what a beautiful wife Mr. Khurana has."
Geet was a little uncomfortable with Mr. Rahul, but she didn't want to do anything to jeopardize Maan's business. Trying to keep her uneasy feelings to herself, she extended her hand and took his. It gave her the creeps to touch him, but she pasted a smile on her face anyway.
From across the room, Maan could see Geet and Rahul shaking hands, with Geet smiling innocently at him. It was all he could do not create a scene as he marched angrily over to his wife. Doing the best he could to sound calm, he asked the three men to excuse them, and grabbing Geet's hand, pulled her away with him.
As they left, Mr. Sharma said, "I didn't know they were married." Rahul found this statement very interesting.
Geet was shocked at Maan's behavior at leaving two of their clients so abruptly. She wanted him to explain, but he would talk to her, just kept dragging her after him. Finally she pulled her hand out of his grasp, and demanded to know what was wrong.
"You've been having cravings tonight, haven't you?" Geet answered yes. "The doctor says that you've got to eat more, so we'll eat." That was all Maan would say, and he grabbed her hand again. Geet had seen his unreasonable attitude about her health before, so she just assumed that his behavior was more of that.
After they each got a plate of food, they found a small empty table to sit at. They both ate in silence for a while, Geet because she was very hungry, and Maan because he was trying very hard not to think about that slick Rahul leering at his Geet. Once some time had passed, Maan missed Geet's chatter, so he asked her about the people she had met during the party so far. Geet started telling him, and before long they were both having a comfortable conversation. Geet had just finished her food, and was about to suggest getting some more when they were interrupted.
"Mrs. Khurana," came the voice of Rahul, along with an extending hand, "I was wondering if you would do me the honor of dancing with me?"
Geet looked at Rahul's hand, and then back at Maan. She could not understand Maan's expression. Looking to Rahul again, she knew she didn't want to dance, but she couldn't think of any way to refuse. She began to raise her hand to place in his, when Maan reached out and quickly caught her hand with his own.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Rahul, but the only man my wife will be dancing with tonight is me."
With that he pulled Geet out of her chair and over onto the dance floor. Geet couldn't understand the tension in Maan's face, nor why he stopped her from dancing with Rahul. In fact, his behavior was quite rude, and she told him so in hushed tones. Both Maan and Geet were so focussed on each other, that they didn't notice anything about the song they had begun dancing to.

The only thing Maan could think to say was, "What did you expect when you wore that saree?"
"How could I not wear it? It was Mamuji's and Mamiji's gift to me. And what has my wearing saree have to do with your rude behavior anyway?"
"Did you think I would just ignore the looks men have been giving you? That I wouldn't be bothered by what people think of my wife? Even the most controlled man would have difficulty disregarding your beauty."
Geet's eyes, which had been focussed angrily on a point over his shoulder, suddenly moved to his face. "My beauty? I'm beautiful?"

Maan had barely been aware of what he had been saying, but he knew that he probably didn't want to say any more. At least, not if he wanted to stay sane. "Geet, please," in a terse tone, was all he could manage.
However, Geet couldn't let it go. In a soft voice, she questioned, "You think I'm beautiful?"
In response, Maan pulled her closer and whispered in her ear, "Just dance."
Kabhi hua yeh bhi, khali rahon pe bhi
Tu tha mere saath ,
Kabhi tujhe milke, lauta mere dil yeh
Khali khali haath
Yeh bhi huwa kabhi, jaise huwa abhi
Tujko sabhi mein paa liya
Tera mujhe kar jathi hai doorian

Fanna ho sabhi doorian
Kaha bhi na main ne, nahin jeena main ne

"Actually, Devya, I think that's what draws Maan to her. She's so different from most of the girls he's known in Delhi."
"Perhaps I should have chosen a different saree as a gift. I'm afraid she might find this one more revealing than she would like."
"I'm sure it's fine. He can stand being a little jealous. I don't know that he's ever had a reason to be jealous before he met Geet. And she stands up to him. It doesn't matter how angry he gets, or how unreasonable he becomes, she won't back down. She even got him to help her start setting up a nursery."
At the word nursery, Savitri saw a slight change in Devya's demeanor. She became quiet, and took Savitri's hand, leading her away from the dance floor and into a secluded corner. Savitri could guess why.
"Didi, is Dev really the one responsible?" Upon Savitri's sad confirmation, she continued, "Didi, I'm so sorry. That poor girl, what she must have gone through. How did she manage so well? How did she retain so much of her innocence?"
"She's a strong girl," came the proud dadi's reply.
"Did Maan marry her because he feels responsible?"
"Well, that may have been what he told himself. However, having observed them together, I'm sure that the true reason is something very different." This was said with such a happy smile, that Devya couldn't help but smile also.
"So, he loves her. I never thought I would live to seen the day that Maan Singh Khurana would fall in love. What about Geet, does she love him also?"
"I'm not sure. I know she has some feeling for him, but I'm sure the betrayal she has suffered makes her cautious. Yet, they spend almost all their time together, in fact Maan can hardly stay away from her. I am confident that as time passes my grandson will have a wife who loves him just as much as he loves her, if not more."
"Are you afraid to be alone with me?"
"Don't be stupid, of course I'm not afraid."
"Then come along. Don't you feel like escaping from the crowd for awhile?"
Geet admitted that she would like to get away for awhile. Maan again began leading her away from the party, and into the family areas of the mansion. While they were walking, Maan started questioning Geet on who she had met, and how she was liking the party. This conversation was just the thing to set Geet at ease. By the time they reached the gardens, Geet was in a very happy mood. Seeing the beautiful landscaping in the moonlight lifted Geet's mood even higher.
She ran to a row of beautiful rose bushes, and began to finger the soft petals, and inhale the beautiful fragrance. Maan stayed near the edge of the house, and just watch Geet standing in the moonlight. They were only there for a very few minutes, before the rain started pouring. Maan called for Geet to come in quickly, but she just stood standing in the rain, with an enormous smile on her face.

Rahul being disgusting - June 24 & 25 episodes
You will not believe how long it took me to decide on a song. I couldn't use Kurbaan Hua, since I think it suited a much more angry dance, and I felt that no matter how upset Maan was, he would be more gentle knowing Geet was pregnant. If there is a song you would like them to dance to, feel free to imagine it, as I see them as having dance together for quite a while before stopping. Anyway, I would like to mention later that Geet met some actors and actresses, but since the song was so difficult for me, I thought I'd let you guys tell me who you would like Geet to have met at the party.
