Mahaepi and Mahafriendship - Is it just Me?

The Mahaepisode

What was the reason for this? To progress the storyline? Well if so it seems to have been ineffective at best and unnecessary at worst.

The storyline seems no further along (in a significant manner) after the mahaepi than it was last week.

• Komal is still a terror,
  
• Adarsh is still harassed,
  
• SS and Guruma are still fuming,
  
• Krishna is still baffled and uncommitted to the Friendship thing,
  
• Pratigya is still hot-cold on being friends with Krishna, uncomfortable at his most innocent of overtures and suspicious of her sudden popularity with the Singhs,
  
• Amma is still frustrated, vengeful and plotting,
  
• Saxenas are still unhappy and collectively stressed over Angad's existence,
  
• Angad and goons are still unfazed by the repeated "kands" and "prasads" that they receive and plotting new plan,
  
• and yes Pratigya has still not told the truth about the kidnapping to Krishna.
• Even the bike scene was neither here nor there, for me. It did not bring them any closer and was not really romantic as the only reason she gingerly touched him for support is because he insisted (as always) and it was a safety thing.

So let's examine the TRUE progress that the mahaepi achieved.

• SS got a ticket and Angad has gone on a painful retreat.
  

Both scenes I guess giving Kriya a brief respite. Very, very brief I am sure.

So is it just me or could the two minor events i.e. SS ticket and Angad the Cliffhanger not have been possible to cover in a regular epi? Did we even need a whole one hour mahaepi?

Things I liked or found funny about this Maha-Time Pass Epi:

• Krishna appearing to read a magazine at the party office. Considering he is illiterate he must have been checking out the pictures like a five year old at the dentist's office.
• Prof's advice to a distraught Pratigya about their involvement in SS ticket ' this is life, relationships are used this way as aces and levers to bring success to families and do not give it a second thought. Very very pragmatic. Kudos to the prof.
• The way Angad immediately deduced that Pratigya was holding back from Krishna and that Krishna is far from the confidante or involved husband that he wants to think he is.
• Their first real date and he brings her to the only place that he thinks she might enjoy ' the gol gappa stand.
• The "parade" comment by Krishna.

NOTE TO CREATIVES - THE "FRIENDSHIP" TRACK:

Your storyline seems to be stagnating. Not sure how far progressed the friendship track is but it seems to be having limited effect on the progression of the Kriya marriage/ relationship and is lacklustre at best and bland and un-contentious at worst?

Pooja Gaur is a beautiful and seemingly talented actress and the Pratigya character has the potential of being a caring wife, a truly valuable asset to the Singhs and an even more powerful figure than Guruma in the grand scheme of things.

Yet the character is not being allowed to develop past her fear and suspicion of Krishna, marital consummation and the Angad shadow. For how long will we be seeing a predominately terrified, sad, unhappy, suspicious and paranoid lead lady? Don't you think this constant state of nerves and unhappiness that your leading ladyis portraying (because seriously we can count the number of times she has been allowed to smile in this show on two hands) is a waste of the character potential, an underutilization of an actor's talent and a storyline that uses different track approaches to end up with the SAME CONSEQUENCE?

We understand Krishna is being shown to undergo a transformation in order to win Pratigya's love but does he have to be depicted as a trainee pet in order to achieve this love or a desired effect? Don't you think this is messing with the "Krishna" brand that was the reason so many of the character's fans got engaged in your serial to begin with?

What do you guys think?

1. Was the mahaepi needed?
2. Does what you have seen in the "friendship" track to date shown any significant progress for Kriya or are we just beating around the same bush first clockwise and then counter-clockwise with little result?

First to post a reply ....................Very good points made in your post.

I feel the current friendship build up is dull and the spark between Krishna and Prats that was evident during their early days of marriage is sorely missing. Does showing the friendship angle mean the chemistry has to disappear? Even Krishna's delivery seemed rushed at times during their convo. about friendships. I am not sure if they have a new director, but except for Angad's bits on mahaepisode which included some painfully dramatic moments with Prof. and Adarsh, the rest of the episode turned out to be maha bore. The Kesar pregnancy hour seemed more entertaining and action packed.

The creators are making me wish Krishna and Prats have more of an adversarial relationship than a friendship one. At least there was more chemistry evident then and the tension between them was something that came off the screen. That motorcycle segment was so not needed. Maybe it's the scenes themselves. Was it necessary for Krishna to forget about his beebi on the bike and their alone time and focus on Angad and his pals with black and blue marks outside the jail? Granted they had to show them interacting but that scene made the friendship/alone time seemed inconsequencial.

Personally, was disappointed with this maha episode and will give it a C- grade.

SS was initially shown as illiterate but ASTUTE. SS and Angad were INTELLIGENT . And so , a TREAT . Alas , they have been reduced to JOKERS.👏👏👏👏

Krishna was shown as somebody who loved his family, ribbed them as the younger more indulged son but always respected his father. the constant disrespect that the new and improved Krishna character is showing to his most beloved parent SS in the name of gaining brownie points with his wife is very distasteful. Indeed it is . I don't like Krishna as a son at all . Fantastic as a passionate lover , horrible as a son . Wuss like as a husband . No credibility or self respect given to this character .

I agree Krishna needed to be handled carefully in this track. This is 180 role reversal is saturating the brand.

Krishna has always been considerate and friendly in his overtures towards Pratigya. the friendliness was one sided. to make this track interesting they DID NOT need to make krishna more friendly they needed to get pratigya to acknowledge, appreciate and reciprocate his overtures. Exactly .But they dont show Pratigya changing , only Krishna changing . This was HER chance to change and bloom as a woman . Alas .The bedroom scenes , the bike rides r so boring yaar .

Instead what I have seen so far is that Pratigya drew a friendship circle and Krishna stepped in hesitatingly and everytime he plays ball the other party gets all apprehensive and paranoid and starts stepping outside the circle. Clearly it is , listen to me or sleep on the sofa. If u dont listen to be u will be demoted to the sofa , if u listen u will be atleast allowed on the bed .

I know that people who love the Pratigya character are going to think that I am biased and maybe I am but end of day I am here to see a bold Krishna and a maturing Kriya. i am getting neither. I feel that Kriya is in a constant spin cylce and will never get ready to move to the dryer.

So the blanket scene, did you think her reaction to his action and his subsequent explanation was in the least bit realistic? No , not at all . They cud have shown her eyes resting on his face , taking in all what she saw , feeling secretly shy or thrilled by the proximity , wondering about his action and NOT deciding to move away .See , this way , still no touching wud be shown yet a lot of passion cud have been conveyed .But she just got up and started her lectures . She came across as a frigid woman .

What about the fear at hearing about how Krishna was mad at Angad and Nitin's involvement with her? was her reaction realistic considering she already knew all of this?Not just that , inspite of seeing how he had almost thrashed the foreigner in the hotel for shaking her hand , she still tells him gleefully about mystery person MITHILESH . I dont care if it turns out to be a gal , it only confirms my belief that Pratigya sometimes seems not to have a brain AT ALL .

her reaction to being expected/asked to support her father-in-law at the party office? her distraught reaction? was that realistic? if she married Nitin don't you think she would have had to act the society wife and support her husband in any kind of hospitality occasions? Just because Nitin's family was not into politics did not mean that business support would not have been expected from an educated DIL.Of course it wud have . And thats why I asked , if Jagmohans wife wud have kept quite after watching her playing Dosti Dosti with Nitin for a year or so . Frankly I dunno what she expects from this marraige .....all the time she is apologising to her Dad on behalf of her sasur or Krishna as if her sophisticated family has been forced to dine with tribals.

I don't understand why they are taking a character with such STRONG potential and showing her to be wilful, amateurish, self absorbed and reactiveThats exactly what she is Hope . Wilful , immature , self absorbed [ extremely] and very reactive . Also , she has no introspective qualities and never introspects her own actions or takes responsibility for them .

I was just about to come and answer by own question but expressed the exact same thought so eloquently. and it is this reaction of hers that makes me constantly question - what is the purpose of this track? I am baffled
