Rang De Basanti!
Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part, but I feel that people getting together to raise their voice against the injustice done in the Jessica case is in some way inspired by Rang De Basanti. Cinema does have some influence on our society.
Normally apna film industry is targeted for sending out a bad message — violence, smoking, cruelty against animals…. If they could, they'd blame bad weather on our films. So this time, let's cheer Rakeysh Mehra and his boys for some positive influence. Khoon chala, khoon chala…. | | Ayesha's not fond of Mallika
Now that you know Ayesha Takia roams around armed with a "no kissing-and-sex-for-me" contract, we asked her about co-star (in Shaadi Se Pehle) Mallika Sherawat's bold and over-the-top ways.
The obvious reaction: "Thank god… as far as Shaadi Se Pehle is concerned, I hardly shot with her."
She further added, "And let me tell you I'm not working with her in any thriller produced by Mukta Arts. I don't know who started spreading this rumour and even a lot of dailies carried it without verifying with me."
Was Madame Mallika the one to propagate it? That remains the question. | Star of the decade
| Mallika Sherawat Pic: Mukesh Parpiani | At the Poonawala races, Mallika Sherawat arrived in style in a chopper. And then climbed into a Rolls Royce.
Okay, so her outfit was Shahab Durazi; but we didn't like it. But the highlight of the evening was when they introduced her as, 'Mallika Sherawat — the star of the decade'.
Ok, so that's final. The Poonawalas know about horses, but they know horseshit about Bollywood. If you'd introduced Aishwarya, Rani or even Kareena with that introduction, we might've digested it. | | | Mallika Sherawat | Pooja Bedi | | | Adar Poonawala and Mallika Sherawat Pics: Pradeep Bandekar | While on the Derby, we heard that Mallika was the guest of honour because at the races because of her connection with a certain Poonawala.
Interesting how both Pooja Bedi and Mallika knowing for flaunting their assets, chose to dress sedately last Sunday.
And finally, a bit of advice for Ms Sherawat, next time you turn your back to the photographers so that they can catch your dress plunging at the back, do it more subtly.
And when you wave at the crowds, do it with less gusto and more delicately, so that your underside of your arm wobbles less. | Rani's cold vibes
When Hollywood's man in town, Will Smith gave Rani Mukerji the Best Actress award at the Filmfare nite we couldn't help but notice the thanda response apni Rani gave the Men in Black superstar.
Shiamak Davar, who was on the dais received a warm hug, but Rani didn't play up to the Hollywood hunk at all.
She rattled off her thanksgiving speech and preferred to walk away taking a momentary pause to pose with Smith for the shutterbugs.
And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to decipher all this. Didn't Smith go to town saying how he felt Aishwarya Rai was soooo beautiful and how he would luuve to do a film with her? Now you know why Babli preferred to be lukewarm to Smith. |
