Good Morning!

Sarita
Tanwar
There's an SMS doing the rounds started by NDTV asking for votes to petition for the Jessica Lal case. It got me thinking… Films are announced after every big controversy. Tarannum story, the SA model rape incident and countless others. But these are mostly C-grade films. Lal's story hasn't inspired anyone. Hollywood thrives on making films inspired by real life (Erin Brokovich, The Insider, and the more recent North country). Isn't it time our filmmakers told true and shocking stories of the common man, and made socially relevant films?

Prakash Jha is the only filmmaker who does. With the multiplex culture firmly in place, there is no longer the excuse of not having niche audience or no demand any more.

So Bhansali, Mathan, Kukunoor, think about it....

Kash gets a Frownie

Kashmera Shah

Kashmera Shah just got two awards — the Best Close-Up Award at the Delray Beach Film Festival (March 8 to 12) and the Best Actor Award for My Bollywood Bride at the Sedona Film Festival (March 13).

"I was selected out of 500 faces and the event was sponsored by Frownie Cosmetics," Kash burbles excitedly. "I am going to attend the event to take the award. This is my first award and I have to go and take it. The best actor award can be picked up by Brad (her husband)."

The Delray festival will be the first film festival in the country to present a Frownie, an award for the best close-up by an actress in an independent film.

The Frownie Award was created by the makers of Frownies Facial Pads, a non-surgical face-lift used by Hollywood film stars for decades, including Gloria Swanson, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep and Rene Russo.

Amrita Singh loves Aamir

Amrita Singh

Amrita saw Rang De Basanti and was blown away.

The actress is looking out for "good roles in films and TV… something that I can relate to and that excites me."

Something like RDB? The actress can't stop talking about the film. "It was a mind-blowing film, where every actor was so good.

Aamir Khan is sooo cool! He is not insecure at all and such a great actor. Hats off to him. Every actor in India should learn from him." Saif included?

She didn't say.

Shopping, Mallika style

Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat wore a Shahab Durazi outfit for the Poonawala Race.

This is the first time Durazi's designing for Mallika.
It was an off-white, lacy confection complete with a matching hat and shoes from Moschino.

A little bee told us that when La Sherawat went to shop for her hat and shoes at the Louis Vuitton showroom to match her outfit, the shop was kept open for her after hours so that madame could shop in peace! That's what being a diva is all about, huh?

Not chickenfeed, but brawn

Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan who survives only on chicken tandoori is finding it mighty difficult to change tracks today with the bird flu going around.

Though, you wouldn't notice it (check out his muscular body, courtesy trainer Prashant Sawant).

Maybe SRK's planning to contest the next Mr Universe contest. After all, when you are the No 1 and have conquered almost everything else, there are some peaks yet left unexplored.

Returning to the bird flu thingie, when a journalist recently quizzed him about it and asked him how he managed without chickens today, Shah Rukh said very sarcastically, "Oh you guys have become like MiD DAY now, asking frivolous stuff."

But that certainly didn't stop him from expanding forth on the topic of bird flu and what precautions he was taking. That's what not having enough protein does to you — turns your brains to mush.

Joke's on Priyanka?

Priyanka Chopra
Seen the end credits of Taxi No 9211, where Priyanka Chopra does a brief appearance?

She's been thank you-ed as Ms Piggychops, a nickname Abhishek Bachchan and Rohan Sippy gave her during the shoot of Bluffmaster!

Taxi producer Rohan Sippy seems to have taken their joke a bit too far. Or just has too inflated an ego to think that the whole world will get their private joke.

Sangeeta's coffee craving

Sangeeta Ghosh
This is what we heard from a friend of Miss Ghosh from the sets of her show. Sangeeta apparently has a yearning for coffee and desserts and doesn't give up on any chance to go relish them.

"If she's in any mall or anywhere near a Barista or a coffee shop, then expect her to spend long hours sipping on a cuppa hot coffee", said her friend.

And desserts too. We can't help but envy people with good metabolism.

Raza's Bollywood

Q. Why do shopkeepers suspect Viju Khote when he gives them coins?
A. They suspect the coins to be 'Khote' sikkey!
