Kabir is wheeled into the hospital, w/ Jyoti crying her heart out. Pankaj follows. Jyoti tells the doc that there's a lot of bleeding, and to please do something to stop it. The stretcher is moved into the ER, and Jyoti is prevented by the nurse from going any further. Jyoti continues crying. Pankaj comes up to her and asks her to sit down and relax, Kabir saved his life, and so god is w/ him. Jyoti tells Pankaj that Kabir did a lot for her. Pankaj tells her not to cry, saying that it could affect the baby (WTF do you care - it's not like you consider it yours.) Jyoti looks @ him shocked (Besides, a nice sense of priorities, Pankaj - here is a person who saved your life, and you're more worried about the well-being of your unborn kid, who you're not willing to acknowledge as yours. You're such a greaseball)
The doctors come out and say that they need a signature from a family member to authorize an operation. They go to Jyoti and ask her whether she is his wife, since she needs to fill up a form and sign it. Jyoti looks @ Pankaj (why? again, WTF does his reaction have to do w/ whether it's true or not?) and says no. (Jyoti, that's why you need to marry him, or else, it's literally a difference b/w life & death, as you can very well see) The nurse asks Jyoti who she is, and she tells her that she's just a friend. She then asks her if Pankaj is her hubby, and Jyoti says no, he's her ex-hubby. The nurse wonders who will sign, and the cop tells her that in that case, someone has to contact the Sisodia family, and requests Jyoti to do that for them.
Back in the Sharmas, Dadi is worried, and Padma tries to comfort her. Dadi says that she's worried due to the apshakuns. The phone rings, and Padma picks it up. It's Pankaj. He gives them the news, and everybody in the family is shocked to hear that Kabir has been shot. Poonam wonders that if didi is w/ Kabir, and Kabir has been shot, what is Pankaj doing there? (Good question, if it's meant to cast aspersions on Pankaj 😆😆 If it's meant to malign Jyoti or Kabir, 🤬 you!!!)
At the hospital, Jyoti is sitting w/ Pankaj and searching her phone for Kabir's relatives, but comes out blank. (Hey, Jyoti, how about calling Amit, and asking him to convey that message? I guess the mind doesn't work in this state. Incidentally, why not retrieve and use Kabir's phone?) She laments that she has no info on Kabir's family, while he has everything on hers (there's a good reason for that Jyoti - he wants you in his family, but you don't want him in yours.) She regrets that Kabir did so much for her, and she was never even curious about him. Pankaj tells her that everything will be allright once Kabir recovers.
Two cops come to Pankaj, and tell him that they know that he's not in the right state of mind, but they do need to interrogate him to find out more info on his assailants. They confirm that the assault was on him, and ask him whether he could identify the assailants? Jyoti tells them that he can't see (I prefer the way Mrs Pankaj Vashist says it - that he is blind) They apologize, and then ask Jyoti if she can provide any evidence? Jyoti starts getting flashbacks of what she saw (now, if only the officers could see the re-runs of what the CVs show us... 😆😆 )
In the operation theater, Kabir is being operated. He's fitted w/ an oxygen mask, and the bullet that penetrated him is successfully removed 👏 (Thank god) Jyoti is standing outside, watching this thru the window.
Jyoti continues getting the flashbacks - the nurse asking whether she's Kabir's wife, Kabir wanting her until his last breath, and then Kabir being shot. Pankaj taps her on her shoulder (you're married, don't touch her) and asks her whether the operation is complete? She says no. Pankaj thinks that he's responsible for Kabir's condition, and is powerless to do anything about it. Jyoti tells him that she knows Kabir-ji, and that if in Pankaj's place it was someone else, he'd not hesitate to risk his life to save him. He saved her as well - and then Jyoti gets the flashback of her bike rescue. Pankaj notes that Kabir has a big heart. He says he doesn't know how to repay him (Once you know, how about helping Kabir get Jyoti by convincing her to accept his proposal, and offering to give her baby the Vashist family name just in case Kabir can't give his family name to that kid?)
Jyoti tells Pankaj that Kabir is aloof, and never expects that whenever he does anyone a favor, that he'd get anything in return. She asks him to pray for his well being. Pankaj asks her if she got to know anything about his family? Jyoti says no, and notes how selfish she is - Kabir did so much for her family, and she did squat for him. She's supposedly a friend, and yet knows nothing about him beyond his name.
Jyoti then tells Pankaj that he ought to be going home. Neelam must be very worried about him. In Pankaj's home, Neelam is fidgeting, angry that he left in the morning, but has yet to return. She then calls him, and gets him on the phone, and asks him where he is this late, and that she's told her dad that the cash has been arranged. She reminds him that her father has a high blood pressure, and if he's worried, anything can happen to him. She asks him what was so urgent that drew him away? Pankaj tells her that he was in an accident, and describes it to her. Neelam then asks whether the money was safe, and a disgusted Pankaj tells her that it is. Neelam heaves a sigh of relief, and tells Pankaj to come quickly home w/ the cash.
A doctor comes out, and Jyoti asks him about Kabir's condition. He tells her that the operation is successful, and that Kabir is being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Pankaj, after getting off the phone, asks Jyoti about Kabir, and she tells him that she's going to the ICU to see Kabir. Pankaj requests her to take him w/ her, but she tells him that he has duties @ home, and to tend to them (yeah, Jyoti, the last thing you want is Bhairavi coming ranting @ you, especially @ this time & place) She tells him that he didn't phone Neelam even once, and that after such an incident, any wife would be worried. Jyoti begs him to go home, and tells him that if needed, she'll call him. Pankaj tells her that he'll be back tomorrow to see Kabir, and asks Jyoti to take care of both herself & Kabir (at least now, he's putting Kabir's well being above that of the baby)
Jyoti heads for the ICU, and just then, Deepu, Poonam & Padma arrive. Jyoti goes to Padma and Padma asks her for more details. Just then, a nurse arrives and tells them that Kabir is stable. She asks them if they are from her family, and tells them that any further treatment will only be administered after the bill is paid. Deepu grabs it and tells her that he'll pay it. He then heads to the front desk, and Poonam follows him and tries to tell him that as it is, they are buried in debt, and now he's digging an even bigger hole. Deepu tells her that she's forgetting everything that Kabir did for Sushma. Poonam tells him that he's rich, whereas Deepu is hardly... Deepu tells her that someone's life is in danger, and she's obsessed w/ money? Saying this, he turns away to pay the bill.
Jyoti & Padma arrive outside the ICU, watching Kabir from outside. Poonam, disgusted, asks Deepu whether they have to wait @ the hospital all night (hey, in that case, why did you come? You could have stayed home w/ Dadi & Papa - they could have used your services) Jyoti tells Deepu to take Poonam & Padma & return home. Padma tells Jyoti that even though Kabir isn't family, he's now very dear to them, and until he's back to normal, they'll all wait there (Padma-ji, you might want to discuss that w/ your ladli bahu) Jyoti tells her that the hospital won't let so many of them just stay there, and Deepu tells her that she too needs rest, and volunteers to stay there instead. Jyoti insists that she has to stay, and so in the end, Padma & Poonam are to return home, while Deepu & Jyoti stay.
Next morning, Deepu & Jyoti are still asleep in the waiting room, on the guest chairs. Jyoti gets up and wakes Deepu, and they go up to the doctor, and ask him about Kabir, and told that he's stable, and out of danger. 👏👏👏 Both heave a sigh of relief.
The doc tells them that he's asleep. Jyoti asked him whether he had regained consciousness, and the doc tells her that he kept saying 'Jyoti, are you okay' repeatedly. Jyoti goes to the ICU, and sees him from outside. She then opens the door, goes in and sits next to him. (Is this allowed - going into an ICU w/o a doc's permission❓) She gets the flashback of Kabir promising her that he'll be by her side for life, until his last breath, as well as his being shot. She takes Kabir's hand and fondly caresses it. 💔😭 She tells Kabir that despite everything that happened to him, he's not worried about himself, but about her. She then resumes crying.
Outside, Pankaj has magically arrived @ the door of the ICU. (An amazing achievement for a blind person who didn't have any sounds or other indicators to guide him to the spot)
A moving episode. For the first time, Jyoti is forced to reckon w/ how one sided her friendship w/ Kabir has been, and the words of Kabir, which she spurned at the time, keep coming back to haunt her. And happily, her flashbacks of Pankaj are things of the past.
If Pankaj is genuinely appreciative of what Kabir has done for him, then one thing he could do, once he knows Kabir's feelings for Jyoti, would be to tell Jyoti to go ahead and marry Kabir, and that he would do anything she needs for the baby, whether it's the family name, or anything else. He doesn't have to break his promise to Jyoti of never demanding that baby, but if Jyoti marries Kabir and her new family has problems, that's where Pankaj could help, w/o being a pain in the rear for Jyoti. And even CM or Neelam shouldn't have a problem w/ this, since Jyoti's successful marriage to Kabir would mean her being out of the Vashist family.
I understand that one's mind doesn't always work right, but couldn't Jyoti have asked for Kabir's phone, and called someone in his call list? That way, she could have gotten the message to them.
I can understand Poonam being worried about the expenses, but this was beyond me, after all Kabir did. I sure hope Mahesh-ji or Prabha-ji are never in a similar situation, or god knows what she'll do. And when she asked Deepu for the bill, what was she planning to do - call her dad? Also, if she was worried about spending all night there, why did she come w/ them in the first place?
And Neelam - I like her sense of priorities. After hearing that a stranger had been shot defending her hubby, her first question is whether the money is secure. Contrast that to what Jyoti was prepared to do for Brij, when she found out that he had saved Pankaj from a fake heist.
Oh, and Kabir is safe, and out of danger. Please, no more threads about him going to die!!! Enough already!!!
