Why does everyone think Shan is not Vaish's son?

After watching today's episode, a lot of you are stating that you don't think Shantanu is really Vaishali's son and he's just lying to get something? But my question is why would he lie about being her son and what would he want from the PF that would make him lie to acquire it? It doesn't make sense. What would Shantanu gain from pretending to be the missing Purohit son? Obviously wealth and status, but he already has wealth. If he wanted to steal Radhika away from Dev, he could've done it in Malaysia itself or any time after coming to India. There would be no need for him to enter PB as a fake son and then take Radhika from Dev. Also, Shantanu already admitted that he never had a look-a-like wife, so that means his goal is something else and not Radhika. The story fits well as it has been laid out: that Shantanu is the son Vaishali gave away and now he is back to take what he feels is rightfully his as the eldest son. Why would some random guy pretend to be someone's missing son just to take the RPship away from Dev? What does Shantanu care for the RPship unless he is really related to this family and feels that his true rights have been stolen from him?

Well Sandeepa, I partly know the reason why.... because when Vaishali was standing outside his room, he came n started talking, then it looked like he was pretending to wipe his tears and then he immediately started laughing for himself.... so..... it is like 5% unclear..... I think.....

I DON'T THINK SO BECAUSE HE'S FULL OF HATRED THAT'S WHY HE'S ACTING IS SO MINDBLOWING

Sandeepa, I was thinking the same thing.. I don't want Shantanu to be some random person. The story would be more interesting if we see the conflict between Shantanu, the abandoned child vs. Dev, the golden child... I also like the idea of Radhika fighting on the side of her husband for his right and finally turning Shantanu positive... Mishti this also goes towards your circle idea... when Vishaka "married" Dev, the golden child vs. Radhika the outsider....

Bottom line, I have a nasty suspicion that the whole scene of front of everyone knowing the truth is all Vaishali's dream... I am sure the whole Shantanu will be dragged out for a while to come.. where he will start blackmailing Radhika & Vaishali...

In my opinion it would be a very, very stupid thing for the CVs to show that Shantanu is lying and is not really Vaishali's son. To play with the audience's sentiments and say "yes he's the missing son" and then suddenly "no, he's not really the missing son" would be murder for their show and trps. Then the question would remain, who is really the child Vaishali gave away. No, I think Shantanu really is the son Vaishali gave away and he is here to stake his claim.

me too think that shan is a real purohit and dev's elder brother. He laughs behind Vaishali's back because he is getting his mission successful of giving pain to those people who had made him suffer in all these years. He wants all of them to suffer in the same manner and to go through the same pain under which he had gone all these years after being abondoned. We haven't been told yet where he was in all these 28 years and under what circumstances he has gone through this period. As it was evident from his dialouges today when he asked Vaishali if she ever thought whether her abondoned child would have eaten while feeding dev and Vivek and whether he would be under shelter or not . It looks like he has to go under worst circumstances that have made him like that he is today i.e. full of anger, revenge and hatred against his mother and the purohits. His laugh is an indication that how much he loves to see all the purohits in pain and his hatred towards them. Till now Shan is shown as a person full of hatred, revenge and negativity and Hiten is prtraying this character to the core😳

When Amma finds out that Shantanu is the eldest Purohit son and first in line for the RP title she will surely push her shameless "mor poti" to get into Shan's good books, marry him, and then take over PB as the eldest bahu. This would also pose a threat to Mrin, who would no longer be the elder son's bahu and thus be pushed even further away from gaining any Purohit wealth. The track would just not be the same if Shantanu was an imposter. CVs need to make him a true Purohit!
